2017-06-30  TREE SHOT DURING WALKING SESSION

On that hot, sunny day, we planned a relaxing walking session for a Sunday afternoon. What we didn’t recognize before was that the way went uphill about 4/2.5 km/miles, anything but relaxing :-). We arrived completely sweated on the hill, I was lucky, that I had only my Leica X Vario with me, which is relatively light. After my hands had been dry, I did a shot of that chestnut tree; it had an unusual form, the branches broadened up with height.

2017-06-29  GIRL MAKING HOT CHOCOLATE WAFFLES

This photo shows a scenery in the old town of Stockholm, where you can find many little shops and gourmet food stores. This girl was sitting near the street, with an open window and was forming hot chocolate waffles. There was an aromatic smell after sweet chocolate and crispy, warm waffles. The sore temptation to get one was even higher if you saw they were handmade.  🙂

2017-06-28  AMUSEMENT PARK “PRATER” FROM A FERRIS WHEEL

I was the godfather for my nice’s confirmation, after the church ceremony and lunch, the classical confirmation trip brought us to the amusement park “Prater” in Vienna. I decided to attend a smooth ride, and soon I was on “Koidl’s Ferris Wheel” from where I had a great view of the park from above.

2017-06-27  NATURE FROM DJI

I was shooting this picture during my photo tour with Samyang FE 14mm 2.8 AF lens and DJI Phantom 4 Pro at the golf club. I was underway with the electrical golf caddy, which was fun to drive and stopped for photos and drone flying. Since I am untalented for golfing, this was an excellent alternative spending the day. 🙂  This golf course at Adamstal, near Vienna, is embedded between hills and mountains, it’s a great nature experience with fresh air and sun for your skin.

2017-06-26  STOCKHOLM METRO STATION IN RED

It looks like a volcano is shortly before the eruption, lava permeates through the stone, it gets hotter and hotter. 😐 If I shut down my fantasy, it’s (only) one of the great metro stations of Stockholm. It was on our last day, where I said to my wife “We haven’t seen the subway station art yet, let’s go and have a look.” I googled where the stations are and here are the photos. 🙂

2017-06-25  AT THE CHICAGO PIER

After wondering about the high prices for parking at the Chicago piers, soon my wife, my kids and I were walking near the Lake Michigan. Armed with my Sony A6000 I took some photos of the “blue hour”. This one with the impression of harmony and silence was the favorite of my wife Karin.

2017-06-24  BUILDING GETS COLOR FROM THE SINKING SUN

After I was visiting my brother in the hospital, I got hungry and wanted to go to a “Make my Burger” – McDonald’s. I like the idea, to make the burger yourself, you can choose a bun made of spelt, and choose the ingredients in a way, that the burger doesn’t get too fat. From the parking lot, I spied that building, tinted lightly in orange and yellow from the sinking sun, a perfect evening shot for the iPhone. 🙂

2017-06-23  PALMS IN A LOUNGE

A typical scene from the Caribbean? Growing palms in a lounge, with the hot sunny weather? In Stockholm you have lounges, but no real palms. 🙂  I had to go very near to verify if they are real, but then recognized the fakes. This bar was near the Vasa Museum, a place I can recommend if you need rest from some longer walking and sightseeing sessions.

2017-06-22  MANHATTAN IN THE NIGHT

I wanted to make the classical New York shot a bit different. I used darker/black colors, increased the glowing lights, turned the sky grayer. This style gives the pulsating city a look like Gotham City in Batman. 🙂  I did that shot on the Rockefeller observation deck “Top of the Rock,” best place to get the Empire State on a photo.

2017-06-21  VILLAGES FROM THE AIR

Flying with a quadcopter can be adventurous like happened here, shortly after I took that photo. Suddenly the DJI app on my iPhone got black, with the red message “Connection Lost.” What to do? Tipping on the screen, didn’t help. Sweat was pouring on my forehead, had I lost my drone? About 2 minutes later, the screen was back, and I could maneuver the copter again. Maybe stronger wind or so could skip the connection?  In the forefront, you can see the Mauerbach Charterhouse, founded in 1314 and rebuilt in 17th and 18th centuries.
