2018-02-28   VERONA FROM ABOVE

Once we took a tour up to the hills in Verona, where we entered an area which looked like a sight seeing platform. But it was some kind of recreational territory from the Italian Army. It was no problem for anyone that we walked around and did some shots from the city. Last but not least, there was even an observation deck with a great view.

2018-02-27   LIGHTS AT A BREWERY

I was out using my Sony Zeiss 135mm 1.8 lens, which I don’t take with me very often, because of the weight of 1050 g (2.31 lb). I was near at one of Vienna’s oldest breweries, named Ottakringer. These three lamps with their homogenous light cones attracted my attention. Holding my breath and some hand-held night shots were on my camera.

2018-02-26   SCOTTISH MAN IN BAR

After ordering a Guinness beer, I sat down at a table and was looking a the TV screens with football games. Then I looked at the bar and saw that man with a tattoo and a Scottish flat cap sitting on a barstool. I liked the scene and took my camera and did a quick shot, although higher ISO it came out usable. The guy didn’t react to the photo very much but was not amused. However, I had the picture I wanted which represents a typical pub scene in Great Britain.

2018-02-25   VILLA NEAR LAKE GARDA

My wife and I were driving about 40 minutes with a motor scooter from Verona to Lake Garda. Some streets were narrow when a bigger truck overtook us 😮 ; we felt the gust, and the motorcycles were under a light fluctuation. However, we arrived safely and could walk around in the villages surrounding the lake. We saw some beautiful Italian villas, from which I was eager to take some photos.

2018-02-24   THEME PARK IN EDINBURGH

The theme park in Edinburgh presented itself as a colorful wonderland with dozens of attractions for the younger and older. A fun walk tour to watch and explore. I found a parapet to place my mini-tripod and take some long exposure shots to catch all the lights and colors. Making the pictures with lower iso was essential. Otherwise, the lights would look blown out in some cases. That’s the reason, why I am more and more a fan of mini-tripods. 🙂

2018-02-23   SAN FRANCISCO FROM THE TWIN PEAKS

Here I was standing on the Twin Peaks observation deck above San Francisco. The name Twin Peaks has nothing to do with the TV series of David Lynch, those are two hills with height at about 275 m (925 ft) which gives a great view of the city and the surrounding areas like the harbor and the sea. I was lucky, no fog, clear and blue sky, I used that perfect weather conditions for some nice city view shots.  🙂

2018-02-22   MUSEUM IN EDINBURGH

The entry into the Edinburgh National Museum was utterly free of charge; it presents a broad range of exhibits from science to biology to fashion. The balconies on the higher floors were perfect to place my camera to enable stabilized wide angle shots. Some rooms and halls reminded my of picture-books with a vast amount of exhibits to explore.

2018-02-21   EXHIBITION IN THE CELLARS

The Schlumberger cellars show you the history and production of their renowned champagne. There must have been used millions of bricks to build those massive cellar-vaults. The different stations of the exhibition show barrels, bottles in particular positions for the vinification and some funny exhibits like this bottle on a pedestal, which you can see in the photo.

2018-02-20   SHEIKH ZAYED MOSQUE IN THE EVENING

I think I stayed in this mosque from later afternoon until night. It is one of the buildings I will ever remember. With the beginning of the evening, I tried to capture the light, shining from the arches. The lightning is part of the architecture and harmonized with the colors and structure of the building.

2018-02-19   WALK THROUGH SAGRADA FAMILIA

Filming the impressive church Sagrada Familia – this was the plan. I placed my YI 4K Action cam on an appropriate bezel which I stuck on a Zhiyun gimbal. I started on the west entrance, walked through into the big hall and went a whole round. Although many tourists were inside, I got a good impression of this one-of-a-kind building. Inside was heavy construction work, the structure of this great church continues and will last until 2026.
