2018-07-07   STAIRWAY IN CHAMPAGNE CELLAR

By | 2018-07-07T11:20:27+00:00 July 7th, 2018|Vienna|

The photo shows a stairway up to more cellars in the Schlumberger cellar-exhibition in Vienna. There are dozens of vaults with millions of bricks. I recommend a visit during the summer months; it’s refreshingly cool inside.

2018-07-06   NIGHTLY STREET IN SINGAPORE

By | 2018-07-06T17:48:03+00:00 July 6th, 2018|Singapore|

I do this in every city. Shooting streets in the night from a bridge, where the cars are approaching, and a dark sky tints the scenery. The different lights form the cars, street lamps, and industrial buildings, that’s urbanity, the atmosphere for electro-pop sound. Then I think of the German electronic band Kraftwerk with their song “Metropolis.”

2018-07-04   DOORS IN THE OLD TOWN OF COMO

By | 2018-07-04T17:45:27+00:00 July 4th, 2018|Generic|

This photo shows the view from inside the mansion where we had our room. The old town has narrow alleys, with a width for one car only driving one-way direction. The streets are cobbled in an Italian style, a beautiful area for walking around and taking espresso-shots or sitting in a restaurant and eating pizza with an Aperol Spritz.

2018-07-02   MARKET PLACE IN COMO

By | 2018-07-02T17:54:13+00:00 July 2nd, 2018|Italy|

From time to time I want to shoot with older cameras. For this photo, I used the Panasonic FX-150 which has a Leica lens, 14.8 megapixel, a CCD sensor and costs about $ 40 at eBay. I placed it on a table in a bar and took some evening shots. It’s always interesting to see how this older technic works out. After shooting, I got an Averna with ice and lemon slice, my favorite aperitif.

2018-07-01   STAIRWAY TO THE FIRST FLOOR

By | 2018-07-01T09:09:27+00:00 July 1st, 2018|Singapore|

In which castle or magnificent building are we? No castle :-), it’s the stairway to the first floor of the Apple Store in Singapore. It represents the artful thinking and the commitment to design and details at Apple.

2018-06-29   BRIDGE AND CANAL IN VENICE

By | 2018-06-29T18:55:04+00:00 June 29th, 2018|Generic|

Here I show one of the photos I do without much planning, if the situation arises I shoot. The boats in the canals disappear very fast, so you don’t have the time to position too much. And often the picture results are beautiful, with the blurry boat and the old Venetian walls and that typical bridge which connects the alleys.

By | 2018-06-27T19:00:43+00:00 June 27th, 2018|London|

The Hayward Gallery showed an Andreas Gursky exhibition. Most of his big art-works, often with a length of 6 meters and a width of 4 meters, were revealed. Also the most expensive photo in the world, “Rhein II.” An excellent photo exhibition.

2018-06-25   ENTRY TO SHEIKH ZAYED MOSQUE IN ABU DHABI

By | 2018-06-25T18:52:23+00:00 June 25th, 2018|Dubai|

I had chosen the right time for Sheikh Zayed Mosque. I witnessed the blue hour, the golden hour and the night time. This photo was one of my last shots before I left the area. I think it was worth it, an impressive view of an impressive building.

2018-06-23   NIGHT SHOTS IN GLASGOW

By | 2018-06-23T14:59:04+00:00 June 23rd, 2018|Scotland|

I arrived in Glasgow at the later afternoon during heavy rain. It was only possible to go into the parking garage of a shopping center and take some rounds on the levels. Two hours later raining has stopped. I drove to the River Clyde to take shots of the modern, illuminated buildings. It took some tries to get to a viewpoint where I could place my tripod and shoot the photos of nightly Glasgow. The first shot was the Clyde Auditorium with its blue colors which lies like a big shell beneath the river.

2018-06-22   RAINFOREST IN SINGAPORE

By | 2018-06-22T20:09:45+00:00 June 22nd, 2018|Singapore|

The Cloud Forest near the Gardens at the Bay is an impressive building with a simulated rainforest-walk where a waterfall pours down over a high scarp. In this hall is sub-tropical climate and you have the feeling you are in a Jurassic-Park movie. Even your camera has to a acclimatize before you can start to shoot, lenses are full of dew after you enter this area with high humidity.
