2018-11-07   VLTAVA RIVER IN PRAGUE

By | 2018-11-05T22:17:12+00:00 November 7th, 2018|Prague|

The three European “sister-cities” Prague, Budapest and Vienna have much in common. The buildings and architecture look similar. Each city has its river flowing, Prague the Vltava, Budapest, and Vienna the Danube. Some centuries ago, they were all under the empire of the Habsburger.

2018-11-05   ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

By | 2018-11-04T21:10:59+00:00 November 5th, 2018|Austria|

Some friends, my brother and his girlfriend, my wife Karin and I visited the Castle Grafenegg in Lower Austria. For most of them, it was a typical Sunday afternoon trip. For a photographer it’s a journey, to take photos, find the best compositions and try to catch some pictures, which you can add to your photo collection. Most of the time, you are a bit behind the group, they don’t have the patience for waiting until you have taken your shots. 🙂

2018-11-04   GOING OUT OF THE RAILWAY STATION IN MILAN

By | 2018-11-03T22:11:02+00:00 November 4th, 2018|Milan|

After the 40-minute drive with the airport express train, I entered the railway station Milano Centrale. Sprawling halls with arcs and pillars, the ravages of time are visible, but all in all, an excellent experience for a railway station.

2018-11-03   BUILDING ENTRANCE IN MONACO

By | 2018-11-02T20:18:53+00:00 November 3rd, 2018|France|

My wife, my daughter Cara and I rented an electric car in Nice and took the ride to Monaco. We spent there about half a day and did a city-round-trip-Picasso-museum-botanical-garden-tour. The city, buildings, street are high level; as a sample, I shot that house entrance on the photo, luxury and well designed.

2018-11-02   LANDSCAPE FROM THE HIGH WALL

By | 2018-11-01T19:40:28+00:00 November 2nd, 2018|Austria|

The Hohe Wand (“High Wall”) is a mountain chain with a height of about 1,132 meters. It’s a one hour drive from Vienna, therefore a popular destination. Many hang-gliders and para-sailers use it as a starting-ramp for their flights. Photographer’s get beautiful landscape shots. Be careful with the shooting in the range of the steep face; there is no fence or security-advice, it goes straight down hundreds of meters.

2018-10-31   BLUE GRAPES IN THE MEDOC

By | 2018-10-29T20:02:03+00:00 October 31st, 2018|France|

The grapes were hanging very near to the ground. One of the secrets of the world-famous Bordeaux wines? I asked Alain, the owner of the littlest winery in the Medoc. The vines and their placement and the style of binding and growing get practiced since generations, he told me. However, I am happy that they understand their craft, the output is fabulous wine.

2018-10-30   BUILDINGS IN TOKYO

By | 2018-10-28T18:45:01+00:00 October 30th, 2018|Japan|

After a long subway drive, we entered an area of Tokyo, called Odaiba. Our target was the Mega Web Toyota Theme park. Before joining I shot photos from the surrounding, a great place with modern buildings.

2018-10-29   WAY BACK FROM THE THREE MERLONS

By | 2018-10-28T12:14:07+00:00 October 29th, 2018|Italy|

For all mountain adventurers, mountain lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, I recommend visiting the “Three Merlons” or Tre Cime di Lavaredo, in the Sexten Dolomites of northeastern Italy. The landscape on the mountain peak reminded me of episodes of the Star Trek original series. With the foggy and rainy day, I was barely alone with my wife on the Dolomites. My Fuji X-T1 could resist the rain, photo-shooting was no problem at all.

2018-10-28   IT’S NOT ONLY THE CABLE CAR

By | 2018-10-27T16:05:05+00:00 October 28th, 2018|USA|

It’s fun and exciting to watch the different types of trams in San Francisco, besides the Cable Car. They have different wagons and styles, colors like green, red, grey and blue and roll through the city, from station to station and give every photographer one more reason to come and visit. This night shot is an example for one advantage of smartphones for photo shooting. Suddenly I heard the tone of the tram, and it was approaching the station, and I shot the scene with my Google Pixel II XL immediately. With my Sony A7R II in the photo bag, the shot would have gone lost.
