2019-01-01   DARK CLOUDS OVER MORDOR

Here the Dolomites would give an appropriate scenery for the “Lord of the Rings” representing Mordor, with the cliff and the dark clouds hanging deep. For the actual movie, the filming location was the Tongariro National Park in New Zealand. Thanks to my DJI Phantom 4 Pro, I got that great photo of the Dolomites near Cortina d’Ampezzo.

2018-11-16   FIRST SIGNS OF THE WINTER

I intended to do a drone-flight over the heather in Perchtoldsdorf, near Vienna. Then I saw the signs that dogs, bikes, littering were forbidden because the area is owned by the municipal. Then I was unsure if drone-flying would be allowed. I wanted to avoid anger and potential fees, so I stuck with my camera and did the shots of the beginning winter.

2018-10-26   HOUSE IN EDINBURGH

Coming from the old town and at approaching the castle square of The Iconic Edinburgh Castle you will see the house on the photo on the right side. Even not as spectacular as the castle, it’s worth a photo for its complex architecture, size, shape and color coordination. A highlight in this historically rich city. For the deep blue sky, I merged 5 hdr-photos from -3,7 to +4,3 EV.

2018-10-10   ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

I did a hiking tour with my wife on a Sunday afternoon. We got lost while walking through some gardens and had to cross railroad tracks trudging through the grit. After entering a country lane, I saw that rainbow stretching over the houses and gardens. It lasted only for seconds; I took my Leica X Vario and I was lucky enough to catch two shots with the rainbow in its full splendor.

2018-07-16   BUSHES BETWEEN TREES

Sometimes simple photo motifs give you beautiful results. It must not always be the search after dramatic sceneries, nature before your eyes or by the wayside, add them to your photo tours and picture galleries. I had such moments on a walking trail in San Francisco.

2018-07-04   DOORS IN THE OLD TOWN OF COMO

This photo shows the view from inside the mansion where we had our room. The old town has narrow alleys, with a width for one car only driving one-way direction. The streets are cobbled in an Italian style, a beautiful area for walking around and taking espresso-shots or sitting in a restaurant and eating pizza with an Aperol Spritz.

2018-06-29   BRIDGE AND CANAL IN VENICE

Here I show one of the photos I do without much planning, if the situation arises I shoot. The boats in the canals disappear very fast, so you don’t have the time to position too much. And often the picture results are beautiful, with the blurry boat and the old Venetian walls and that typical bridge which connects the alleys.

2018-06-04   UPSTAIRS MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

Visiting the Museum of Natural History in Vienna (Naturhistorisches Museum Wien) brings you vast photo opportunities. The building and interiors are built like a castle, marble ornaments, and many artfully created sculptures, big arcs, and pillars.

2018-05-17   ROOFS OF A CHURCH IN CARINTHIA

My wife Karin and I were on a Quad tour where we could drive on hilly streets and farm lanes. It was kind of fun, and from time to time we stopped and I was on the way to shoot some photos. I saw that church with the intricated roofs which give a not commonplace view and picture.

2018-04-24   SPRING IN THE SCHÖNBRUNN GARDENS

More and more people gather in the cafes and restaurants of the Schönbrunn Gardens. The spring season has arrived, you feel it when the trees and plants blossom and the weather gets warmer, and you can store your winter jacket at home for the months to come. I recommend the walking tour from Schönbrunn Zoo to Schönbrunn Castle and uphill to the Gloriette, which brings you a bright view over the city. This tour belongs to the top 10 attractions to do in Vienna. I had my little Nikon Coolpix A with me, the APS-C marvel.
