2019-08-24 SUN OVER THE DEAD SEA

By |2019-08-17T19:51:20+01:00August 23rd, 2019|Israel|

The most fascinating sea in the world. This heavy, salty water with no vegetation, where often the surroundings are dangerous. Holes covered with salt crusts give the impression that it is a fortified ground. You break down at bodyweight immediately, and you fall meters deep into the field.

2019-07-26 BIRDS AT MASADA

By |2019-07-26T05:35:42+01:00July 26th, 2019|Israel|

At Masada, the only animals I could watch on the height were these lovely birds. For the photo sessions, I had my rather heavy, but excellent Sigma 35mm 1.4 lens with me. Since it is A-mount, I had the LA-EA3 adapter on my Sony A7R II. A great combination.

2019-07-02 COASTAL ROAD AT THE DEAD SEA

By |2019-06-30T11:51:05+01:00July 1st, 2019|Israel|

Driving the coast road along the Dead Sea is a highlight in Israel. When parking to enjoy the view, you should only take the prepared parking niches. Many signs warn against the devils towards the Dead Sea, where it can come through the encrusted ground to deep holes, which are not recognized when walking.

2019-06-15 COLUMNS IN MASADA

By |2019-06-14T18:56:03+01:00June 15th, 2019|Israel|

It paid off to go down the long walkways in Masada. I arrived at a plateau where I was able to admire these beautiful antique columns. What a tremendous achievement it must have been at the time to drag these stones to the top of the mountain.

2019-05-05 FROM WALKING TO DRIVING AT THE BEACH

By |2019-05-04T08:20:26+01:00May 5th, 2019|Israel|

Walking at the beach promenade in Tel Aviv turned fast to driving with the Bird e-scooters. My son was the first with the scooter; then the search continued until we were supplied with the Bird scooters. It was great fun to drive on the lanes, the beach and the sea on the right side and the hotels on the left. The e-scooters were very rare; everybody tried to catch one, a significant demand. Often the left e-scooters were only with a small percentage of load, so unusable for driving. In the end, we searched a bigger radius on the app; it’s worth it.

2019-04-28 THE STAR WARS LANDSCAPE AT THE DEAD SEA

By |2019-04-27T19:23:27+01:00April 28th, 2019|Israel|

From Masada Fortress you have a great view of the Dead Sea. The landscape is unique, rugged soils and rocks, partly with salt crusts. With the shadows of the clouds and the haze in the sky, the scene seems like a science fiction movie.

2019-04-05 TEL AVIV HARBOR

By |2019-04-02T20:01:22+01:00April 5th, 2019|Israel|

The sky with the dense clouds and the breaking through sun was the photo motive for all persons who were traveling at the pier at that time. Most people took a quick picture with their smartphone. For these impressions, it is better to have a camera, which facilitates the composition and creates more sustainable images.

2019-03-20 VIEW FROM MASADA

By |2019-03-19T20:53:33+01:00March 20th, 2019|Israel|

The ancient fortification of Masada is a singularity in the area between the Dead Sea and the mountains behind. Built on a 400-meter rock, you can either choose to walk up or take the cable car. Once you reached the summit, the view is spectacular. You see the rugged mountains in the backyard, the lowlands with crusts of salt from and the Dead Sea in Eastern direction.

2019-03-01 STRONG COFFEE IN JERUSALEM

By |2019-02-28T20:30:14+01:00March 1st, 2019|Israel|

In Europe, we know the coffee with coffee grounds on the bottom of the bowl as Turkish Coffee. In the bazaar in Jerusalem, I got a strong “Turkish Coffee” which kept me awake until late in the night. It was perfect because I had to drive to Tel Aviv which is about 2 hours. Since my wife Karin fell asleep as soon as we were sitting in the car, thanks to the coffee I stayed awake and could drive to the hotel safely.

2019-02-19  BAZAAR IN JERUSALEM

By |2019-02-18T20:08:00+01:00February 19th, 2019|Israel|

The big bazaar in Jerusalem is a unique world for itself. With a high diversity of booths from clothing to toys it’s a showcase and brings you some buying opportunities. I bought a strong coffee, with the coffee grounds on the bottom. After drinking I stayed awake half the night, but that was fitting, because I had a several hours drive in front of me.
