2020-11-02 GUARD MOUNTING IN ATHENS

My wife insisted on seeing the changing of the guard in Syntagma Square. I thought there were more exciting things but was then taught better. At dusk, with the knocking shoes, and the rehearsed movements, it was a great experience.

2020-11-01 BOAT IN FRONT OF VALETTA

Medieval buildings by the sea, that’s what makes Valletta so unique. Many residents love to leisurely cruise the coast in small boats and marvel at the old buildings.

2020-10-29 THE FRESH AIR ON A GLACIER

Arriving on the summit of the Dachstein Glacier in Upper Austria brought a spectacular view. It was later morning where the rest of the sun appeared between the mountains and the clouds—nature at its best.

2020-10-27 THE ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN GENOVA

By entering an Italian restaurant, I often remember Billy Joel “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant.” And the song text proves the reality:

A bottle of white, a bottle of red
Perhaps a bottle of rose instead
We’ll get a table near the street
In our old familiar place…

2020-10-25 THE STRANGE MUSEUM

A strange museum in Prague. A mixture of Thanksgiving, stone statues, and Eastern bloc flair. There was also a cafe around the corner. I bought a Coke there and took a few photos of the furnishings.

2020-10-23 CHIN-UPS COMPETITION

While visiting the relicts of the fortress of Masada, I witnessed a competition. I saw a group of visitors who started to cheer with each other. Suddenly a pastor in full gear and a visitor started to chin-up. Luckily I had my camera ready and could catch that dramatic scene. I couldn’t remember who won, but it was a fun moment.

2020-10-21 EVENING IN SYLT

I was traveling with my wife Karin to a restaurant with famous fried fish on the menu. Google Maps showed us the way. On the way to the restaurant, I could see the hills behind me with the typical Sylt houses with the North Sea sun in the background. I had only my iPhone to hand and was able to capture a beautiful evening photo.

The Western Wall is separated into an area for visitors and then direct access to the wall, which can only be entered by Jews. An impressive experience to have been there.

2020-10-14  PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN SAN DIEGO

Impressions from San Diego while walking home to the hotel. Photos of public transport are always the right choice for me. I like it to have trams and railway stations in my portfolio; they are a city’s trademark.
