2021-04-16 BRIDGE IN ROTTERDAM

I was in Rotterdam for one day. There I visited the market hall and the surrounding area. Then I walked forward to the sea canal. There weren’t an overwhelming number of motifs there, but then I shot the red bridge. In the foreground are iron art installations that were attached to the promenade on the bank.

2020-05-27 CLEAN ENERGY IN THE NETHERLANDS

Wind, water, and green grass with windmills were my view on the northern bays of the Netherlands. I was the captain of a houseboat, and I often gave the steering wheel to my son, when I was on the deck shooting photos. The silence of the rotating wind turbines was a comforting sight.

2020-02-20  LIVING IN A CUBE

It could be a challenge bringing in the interior and living in a cube, as shown in the photo in the city of Rotterdam. There were some architectural particularities in the town, worth mentioning and worth to have a look. Even there, you also have coffee shops; they are not exclusive to Amsterdam. 🙂

2019-12-18  ESCALATORS IN ROTTERDAM

I have “lost” my family, so I spent my waiting-time with eating coconut domes and shooting photos in the big Market hall. On the picture, you see the perspective from above on nested escalators. At the endpoint, you will get into the garage.

2019-12-08  THE COLORFUL MARKET HALL IN ROTTERDAM

First I saw the famous Market Hall in a youtube video. I was impressed by the painted fruits that decorate the ceiling. Behind the many windows on the side walls are apartments. The inhabitants have daily views from the happenings in the market. I dried some coconut balls and tasty cheese. The photo shows the capabilities of the Google Pixel 3 XL smartphone. With some post-processing, you get presentable images.

2019-11-07 MY WIFE IN ROTTERDAM

No, it’s not true that I am addicted to iPad and smartphones. Look at my wife; she takes any opportunity to look at the photo app, google maps, or What’s App. And my daughter, with her, you can add Instagram to the list. But for me, it’s my job as an IT Manager from an online entertainment company with 70% revenue from the mobile platforms.

2019-09-01 DRIVER IN ROTTERDAM

I turned back my head, and at that moment, I saw a driver approaching into the scene. I was fast with my camera and could capture him before he left the screen. It got more excitement to the photo, which would be a bit lackluster otherwise.

2019-08-26 PORTRAIT OF MY SON WITH THE LEICA

For portraits, I mostly grab my Leica. A photo of my son Dorian in Rotterdam. Through the photos of my children, I was forced to quickly learn to focus on the Leica rangefinder camera, because their patience is limited. If I take too long with the photo, they lose interest and are no longer a reliable model. 🙂

2018-07-22   RIVER EEM NEAR AMERSFOORT

A typical representation of the Netherlands, green and lush grass, flat landscape and rivers which bring the water for agriculture. River Eem runs through the Eem valley and is emptying in Amersfoort. Be careful with the bridges and locks, if you are driving a boat. Sometimes they are so low that you have to duck your head or call a lock keeper to open the bridge for you. Once it was only a few centimeters which prevented our boat roof from scratching, I was breathing deeply and thanked God afterward.

2018-03-25   WINDMILLS NORTHERN NETHERLANDS

I saw that windmill park near Harderwijk at the Veluwermeer. The view with the dozens of windmills placed near the sea was an overwhelming impression. A surreal landscape photo.
