2019-07-30 SCULPTOR IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE II

The second photo from the sculptor-series, where the head is formed from clay and the wet hands of the artist. Fascinating to see, that shapeless material changes to sculptures.

2019-07-29 SEAVIEW FROM PIAZZA SAN MARCO

Venice in January, my wife’s and my favorite travel time. Fewer tourists, pleasant weather (though you will need a winter jacket) and the nightly Piazza San Marco with a clear sky.

2019-07-28 TOWER AT THE CHARLES BRIDGE

At both ends of the Charles Bridge are these impressive towers. They act like a magnet for all tourists and visitors. But that should not spoil your photos. Soon you will be in the floating mass of photo-shooting tourists with smartphones and all kind of cameras. Try to find the perfect angle for you and enjoy. Photographers have to live with many tourists at attractive locations. Via Instagram and Photo-blogs, the sights gain more and more attention. The same for me, often I get inspired by Instagram-posts.

2019-07-27 SCULPTOR IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE

During a big bike tour with the urban e-bikes, we spotted a large group of spectators in a busy square. Our interest aroused, we also wanted to see what to admire. A group of sculptors made an elaborate face of blocks of stone, with hammer and chisel. Also, an artist sculpted a portrait of a present lady from a rock in real-time — an excellent performance.

2019-07-26 BIRDS AT MASADA

At Masada, the only animals I could watch on the height were these lovely birds. For the photo sessions, I had my rather heavy, but excellent Sigma 35mm 1.4 lens with me. Since it is A-mount, I had the LA-EA3 adapter on my Sony A7R II. A great combination.

2019-07-25 AUGMENTED REALITY IN AVIGNON

When I visited the Pope’s Palace in Avignon, the tour guide was a tablet with headphones. There the route of the sightseeing tour was available. During the stay in the rooms and halls, suddenly the display changed and showed the life and bustle of the former knight time. There was a banquet in the dining room and a wedding in the ceremonial hall — augmented reality at its best. At the same time, a computer game was also integrated into the tablet — the top-of-the-notch multimedia experience.

2019-07-24 CITY OF TOULOUSE

Narrow, winding streets and cafes on the roadside bring the French culture to life. Drinking a glass of wine, shooting photos, and walking with my wife Karin was my daily nightly schedule in Toulouse.

2019-07-23 APRICOT HARVEST SELF SERVICE

At the weekend we made a trip to the Wachau. The area is famous for its delicious apricots. Now is just harvest time, and on many trees still, hang the ripe fruit. Eating fresh fruits directly from the tree is a particularly rich experience of nature.

2019-07-22 ELEPHANTS AT THE ENTRY OF BIRLA MANDIR

A very friendly taxi-driver brought me to Birla Mandir temple. I trusted my driver to bring me to the sightseeing hot-spots of New Dheli. At the entrance, we had to remove our shoes. We followed the rules and rules we were given when entering. It was a fascinating temple for a visitor from the Western world.

2019-07-21 CRYSTAL WALK

The impressive art-installation of Andre Heller in the Crystal Worlds of Swarovski in Wattens bring you excitement from room to room, from walkway to walkway. The basic setup consists of Swarovski glass and crystals formed to art sculptures and illuminated with colorful lights. Spherical music creates a particular mood. Be prepared to take a camera with high-iso capabilities with you; don’t leave the exhibition without a vast amount of photos for your portfolio.
