2019-08-31 LIGHTHOUSE IN MALTA

I was on a boat, and I had my Fuji X-T1 with me. It is waterproof and dust resistant, the right tool for an adventurous boat-trip. On the way around the coast of Malta, I saw that lighthouse. The photo came out precisely as I had it in my mind, the blue sea on the bottom with the blue sky on the upper half.

2019-08-30 FIELDS BEFORE THE HARVEST

I was happy to have another opportunity to unpack my drone and fly. I was with my wife Karin in the Waldviertel, an area that lives from agriculture and forestry. I was able to shoot a typical picture, with farmyards nestled between cornfields.

2019-08-29 WALKING HOME IN AMSTERDAM

After visiting the market halls the way home to the hotel was already in the dark, lit with light bulbs. Interestingly, nearly no house in Amsterdam has a facade; you can see the thousands of bricks which make up the walls. One of the many things which I like about this city.

2019-08-27 HONG KONG SAMPAN BOAT

The first photo I have ever seen about Hong Kong was with one of these little boats in front of the skyline. Now I know they are named Sampan and are Chinese wooden boats. Then standing at the harbor ferry, suddenly I had the opportunity to shoot a photo with the exact scene, as I had in my head of my first Hong Kong photo.

2019-08-26 PORTRAIT OF MY SON WITH THE LEICA

For portraits, I mostly grab my Leica. A photo of my son Dorian in Rotterdam. Through the photos of my children, I was forced to quickly learn to focus on the Leica rangefinder camera, because their patience is limited. If I take too long with the photo, they lose interest and are no longer a reliable model. 🙂

2019-08-25 BRIDGE IN TOULOUSE

The public 24-hour bikes in French cities are an excellent thing. Often the price is only 1 euro. The best thing is to get the photo spots stress-free; usually, a basket is attached to where the photo bag fits perfectly. We were able to do so in Toulouse an extensive tour in the evening and stop according to desire and mood.

2019-08-24 SUN OVER THE DEAD SEA

The most fascinating sea in the world. This heavy, salty water with no vegetation, where often the surroundings are dangerous. Holes covered with salt crusts give the impression that it is a fortified ground. You break down at bodyweight immediately, and you fall meters deep into the field.

2019-08-22 REST AFTER A LONG WALK

After a long walk in the hot sun, we saw the chair in an air-conditioned lobby. I left the place to my wife, Karin. For that, I was allowed to take a picture as compensation. 🙂

2019-08-20 GETTY VILLA

The Getty Villa in Los Angeles is built on the basis of Italian palazzos. The gardens, the building, and the entire complex are meticulously maintained. Many gardeners trim trees and bushes, cut off any excess branch — a continually renewing work of art.

2019-08-18 VENICE DURING A NIGHTLY WALK

I was walking with my wife over all the bridges, squares and alleys through Venice. It was stop-and-go traffic. Often I conflicted if I should stop again to take the next photo. Mostly the picture won. Over time, my wife turned on the mobile photography so that she could bridge the time well in addition to my photoshoots.
