2020-12-31 ACROPOLIS WIDE ANGLE

When I was in Athens with my wife this year, restoration work was being carried out on the Acropolis. So I was a little disappointed and still wanted to make the best of the situation. Therefore I decided to take a wide-angle photo to give the sky and the surroundings more emphasis and move the scaffolding into the background.

2020-12-30 SUNSET IN VENICE

My wife Karin and I were waiting for the water bus from Lido Venice to St. Mark’s Square. I used the waiting time for photoshoots. The sinking sun that disappears behind the Adriatic was one of the motifs that found its way into my portfolio.

2020-12-29 RUNNER IN VIENNA

The Prater Hauptallee(central avenue) is a four-lane street that is only open to pedestrians and cyclists. Thousands of outdoor activists cavort every day over the length of 4 kilometers.

2020-12-28 THE NARROW STREETS IN GENOA

When my wife Karin and I arrived in Genoa, we chose a parking garage at the port. The way to the city center led through a maze of narrow streets—a good opportunity for me to photograph the undiscovered Genoa.

2020-12-27 THIS IS GERMAN INGENIEUR KUNST

The Elbphilharmonie is an example of outstanding German engineering. The concert hall has ingenious sound systems, matching rows of seats, and a great concert experience from all angles. I happened to get hold of 2 tickets without a reservation and could therefore see the concert hall from the inside.

2020-12-26 THE LITTLE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

This year, this small Christkindl village that stands at the dining table serves as an alternative to the Christmas markets. It’s reassuring to see when the battery-powered Christmas tree turns, and the lights change colors.

2020-12-24 THE EPIC NORTH SEA

The cliffs in Sylt end abruptly on a long sandy beach. Behind it, the North Sea reveals itself as far as the eye can see. Impressive clouds and light accompany the appearance of the northern sun. The sea is always in motion, a magnificent sight.

2020-12-22 GEOMETRY IN LA

Clear lines, reduced colors, modern style – the Getty Center in Los Angeles has it all. Ideal for snapshots. The view does the rest, panoramic views over the endless sea of buildings and streets of LA.

2020-12-21  PIAZZA SAN MARCO AT 11 PM

My last visit to Venice was in January 2019. At a late hour, the photo shows St. Mark’s Square only sparsely visited. I wonder how it is there now. Anyway, I’m optimistic and plan a trip in autumn 2021. Venice will shine in its old strength.

2020-12-19  TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO II

I photographed this landscape from a wide variety of angles. There are always new, lasting impressions. The natural elements of rocks, stones, snow, and clouds form here rarely seen formations like from another planet.
