2021-01-20 WALKING IN THE PARK IN VIENNA

The Sony A7R IV, the LA-EA5 adapter, and the Sony Zeiss ZA 135 1.8mm A-mount lens were great combinations for pictures this afternoon. Often I leave this lens at home because of the wait. I was glad that I had it with me—a completely new experience to shoot streets and parks with a tele lens. I usually take between 28mm and 50mm. To change lenses and get new frames is a rewarding photo tour. This park is named the Volksgarten.

2021-01-17 PARK AT THE SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE

My daughter wanted to do her running training in Schönbrunn. I had already done my cardio workout, took the opportunity for a photo tour, and accompanied her. The day was rather gloomy and dull, so I decided to go for black and white photography.

2021-01-11 RUNNER IN THE PARK

A camera should not be missing when taking a walk with friends in the park. In the beginning, I thought that there were no motives. But then I was able to take this high-contrast photo of the jogger in the wintry avenue of trees. It was also a good test for the new LA-EA5 adapter to try out my Sony Zeiss ZA 135mm 1.8 on the Sony A7R IV. The new focus options are fantastic.

2021-01-07 CAT ON THE TIN ROOF

I discovered this rooftop shed that was home to several cats while hiking. They were very active, in a quieter moment I was able to take the photo. The cat was then less peaceful then. When I reached out my hand to stroke it, it immediately opened its claws and tried to scratch me.

2021-01-04 JUDENPLATZ VIENNA

Today you can see a winter photo from Judenplatz (Jewish Square) in Vienna. The Leica M240 creates an atmosphere that is particularly effective with buildings in downtown Vienna. Combined with black and white, Jewish Square appears in a new light.

2021-01-03 HORSES IN THE WINTER BREAK

I took a tour of the abandoned amusement park called Prater, which is in the heart of Vienna. There is a coffee-to-go shop there that is open in lockdown. The winter break is the order of the day in the horse enclosures. Spring will bring visitors again who will take part in guided horse rides.

2020-12-26 THE LITTLE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

This year, this small Christkindl village that stands at the dining table serves as an alternative to the Christmas markets. It’s reassuring to see when the battery-powered Christmas tree turns, and the lights change colors.

2020-12-15 THE NEW NORMAL AT CHRISTMAS

Few people on the streets, mostly with masks, bars closed, the new normal for Christmas in Austria. At least the retail sector has reopened and is providing more life in the cities. The photo shows the walk inside the Palais Ferstel.
