2019-02-22  TOWER WITHIN THE TOWER

One cool model of the Zizkov Television Tower displayed on the viewing area at an altitude of 93 meters. Designed and built in the communist-era it represents a unique jewel, compared to the many television towers with the straight concrete building and dozens of antennas a satellite dishes on the top. The elevator brings you up with 4m/s. My wife Karin and I were there at 11 am, very few people, and we got a broad panoramic view of Prague.

2019-01-21   MODERN BUILDINGS IN PRAGUE

My son wanted a burger; therefore we ordered Uber and let bring us to a 4.8 star rated burger bar. It was tiny, only with five tables, but excellent burgers. Afterward, we wanted a coffee. Searching in the area brought us to the building-block on the photo. There we found a Cafe and even could watch football while drinking.

2018-11-25   PHILIPS BUILDING IN PRAGUE

After visiting the EVLS Fitness Expo in Prague, it was later in the evening when my son and I arrived at the hotel. I did my hotel-room routine, looking if the window can be opened and watching after possible photo compositions. Here I was lucky; the illuminated Philips-building was worth to take my Sony A7S out of the photo bag and take some night-shots before going to bed.

2018-11-07   VLTAVA RIVER IN PRAGUE

The three European “sister-cities” Prague, Budapest and Vienna have much in common. The buildings and architecture look similar. Each city has its river flowing, Prague the Vltava, Budapest, and Vienna the Danube. Some centuries ago, they were all under the empire of the Habsburger.

2018-10-09   TV TOWER IN PRAGUE

The Zizkov Television Tower represents a unique design. Built in the communist area, it got one of the landmarks in Prague; it stands high above the city’s skyline. It’s relatively cheap to get up, (e.g., compared to the Empire State Building 🙂 ). Worth a visit, I would plan it as a fixed spot on a Prague journey. With good weather, you get a view of the endless sea of Prague’s buildings in all four cardinal directions.

2018-09-26   SINKING SUN OVER PRAGUE

What are the photography hot spots of the world? If you have a look at Instagram, Flickr or the diverse photo blogs I think to the top ten belong: Island, Rome, Japan(Tokyo), Dubai … and Prague. I am lucky, I live in Vienna, only 3 hours away from Prague. Both cities have their similarities in architecture, buildings, old alleys and an old town. Both offer enough for a two to three days photo journey.

2018-08-15   VIEW FROM TELEVISION TOWER IN PRAGUE

The Zizkov Television Tower reminded me of the architecture in the Eastern European countries during the communist area. It was built between 1985 and 1992 and has a metal design with more levels as a viewing area. One of the highlights in Prague, it brings you great views in all cardinal directions, and you can see the city until the end of the horizon.

2018-06-12   THE ROOFS OF PRAGUE

Prague is a coveted destination in the photo community. Correctly, you will find many enjoyable photo-spots. Try to get on an exhibition which ends on a roof or visit a tower where you can take shots of the rooftops and beautiful churches.

2018-05-26   PRAGUE SHOPPING CENTRE

Back from San Francisco with jet-lag, I have processed this photo shot inside a shopping center in Prague. After arriving at the hotel and bringing the suitcases into the room, I walked with my wife out of the hotel. We wanted a coke-light and entered the shopping center. I looked after a handrail where I could place my camera and shot some photos from the third floor.

2018-05-13   MOAT OF PRAGUE CASTLE

At the bridge on the way to Prague Castle, you get the view of the moat which surrounds the ancient castle.
