2019-03-24 AUSTRIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY

You can expect such magnificent frescoes and ceilings in churches or castles. The Austrian Nationalbibliotek also houses these large ceiling frescoes in the “Prunksaal”, painted by court painter Daniel Gran. Locally you can see that many figures and elements were painted in 3D style, and this happened 300 years ago.

2019-03-14 GROWING SKYLINE OF VIENNA

By |2019-03-13T21:09:39+01:00March 14th, 2019|Vienna|

Many European cities are relatively flat compared to the US or Asian metropolises. There are dedicated quarters for the skylines in specific areas where are limited restrictions for design height. This is also true for Vienna near the Vienna International Centre, which was built between 1973-1979. In the last years, builders added well-designed skyscrapers at the surroundings.

2019-03-04 INTENSE MORNING SUNRISE

By |2019-03-05T05:39:50+01:00March 4th, 2019|Vienna|

On my way to work, I usually don’t have a camera with me. For the spectacular sunrise photo, which looked like a volcano had burst on the horizon, I took my iPhone. When I travel with my wife, I notice the flexibility and speed of photographing with smartphones. I dig the camera out of my bag, during which time my wife has already taken five to six photos with her mobile phone.

2019-02-21  TREE OF LIFE

By |2019-02-20T21:43:47+01:00February 21st, 2019|Vienna|

The size of this tree took a lifetime to grow. The castle park Laxenburg is a destination in the south of Vienna. Most suitable for a Sunday walk with wife and daughter. Small ponds, old bridges, and tall trees make for a beautiful nature experience. To shorten the way you can also jump on a tuk-tuk train.

2019-02-10   ICE SKATING IN FRONT OF THE BURGTHEATER

By |2019-02-09T19:09:59+01:00February 10th, 2019|Vienna|

At my photography tour in the ice skating arena near the town hall in Vienna, I tried different lenses. I made the photo with a wide-angle 14mm 2.8 lens from Samyang. The lens is a native E-mount lens, so no need for an adapter. For cities and places, wide-angle shots often bring the perfect symbioses between centered motives and surroundings. Therefore they fulfill the complete showing of all subjects you wanted to catch with the image.

2019-02-08   VIENNA FROM THE DANUBE TOWER

By |2019-02-08T07:01:01+01:00February 8th, 2019|Vienna|

The picture shows Vienna from the Danube Tower. You can see the “New Danube,” the original Danube, the Millenium Tower, the Brigittenauer Bridge and on the right side the Kahlenberg. The observation deck has a height of about 160 meters, a good starting point for aerial shots. And the only possibility, because flying with drones is strictly prohibited over the city.

2019-02-02   ICE SKATING IN VIENNA

By |2019-02-01T09:11:18+01:00February 2nd, 2019|Vienna|

In Vienna, every January the area around the town hall turns into an ice skating arena. This year there was even an ice floor with an observation deck to drive up. I positioned myself to capture part of the action and momentum. I did the photo with manual focusing, which worked out pretty well.

2019-01-31   COMING HOME

By |2019-01-30T19:36:55+01:00January 31st, 2019|Vienna|

Is someone waiting for here? Anyway, she’s in a hurry, unlike me. I was relaxed, I had half an hour, waiting for my wife. So I was able to photograph the stressful people on the streets.

2019-01-22   WINTER WALK

By |2019-01-21T19:57:45+01:00January 22nd, 2019|Vienna|

On a Sunday afternoon, many Viennese go to the local mountains. A winter hike in cold, dry weather gives you fresh air for a clear mind and gets your circulation going. Take a camera with you, and then you will succeed with some snapshots.

2019-01-11   ASIAN GIRL IN THE DONAUPARK

By |2019-01-11T22:31:15+01:00January 12th, 2019|Vienna|

I was sitting in the Liliput-Bahn, a narrow gauge railway with neat wagons and a little steam locomotive. It is a sightseeing train for tourists in the Donaupark. Since I was waiting for my wife, I drove around and was shooting photos — an excellent opportunity to be inconspicuous.
