2017-05-21  MASKS IN VENICE

Besides the unique architecture, the canals, the water buses, for what things does Venice stand for: the gondolas, the Murano glass and the masks of the Carnival. I entered a costume shop, and it was overwhelming, thousands of masks in all sizes, colors, and characteristics. Some look a little bit scary, some anonymous, some cover the half face, and others got surrounded by feathers. I have never been there at the Carnival, but once I should be. 🙂

2017-05-20  VIENNA TOWN HALL STREET LIGHTS

The Styria festival brought me to the town hall of Vienna. Some friends and my wife were with me; we tried the Styrian white wine name Grauburgunder, excellent, tastes like Chardonnay. Then the night has already arrived, and I took some high-ISO shots, like that with the street lights on a footpath up to the town-hall, a high building.

2017-05-19  CN TOWER IN TORONTO BY NIGHT

At my tripod “excursion” on the “swimming pool – rooftop” of the Toronto Radisson Blue hotel, I caught this night shot of the CN Tower. Beside of some water showers, I got on my back and feet, from people jumping into the pool,  🙂  it was a great shooting experience where I shot some night photos of Toronto. Since there was a second photographer with the same intention in mind, I had to share some space, but it was enough room and time to get what we wanted. 🙂

2017-05-18  ROCKS BETWEEN SNOW

After lunch at an alpine chalet, we did an outside walk through the valley on a mountain plateau near Filzmoos. There was about 1.5/5 m/f of snow at the wayside, some rocks loomed out of the snow beds, on the horizon a mountain range. The sun berthed against the clouds, a real nature spectacle. A good place for starting shooting with my Sony A7R II. 🙂

2017-05-17  THE ROCK OBSERVATION DECK IN NEW YORK

There are two great observation decks in New York, the Empire State Building, and the Rockefeller Center Deck. The Empire State is a bit higher, 86th floor, 320/1050 m/f compared to the Rockefeller “Top of the Rock” with 67th to the 70th floor, 259/850 m/f. On the Empire you are more in the center of Manhattan, the Rock shows you the central park if you look north. And the cool thing, both have outside decks. 🙂

2017-05-16  WOODLAND FROM METAL

Red crystals, stainless steel trunks, steel wool – ingredients for a woodland? In the Swarovski Crystal World, this phenomenon exists 🙂 , designed by contemporary artists like Cao Perrot, Kwangho Lee and others; you will visit an area full of inspiration and modern chic. I lost my companions two times minimum because I was so busy taking photos. I would plan minimum half a day for this great experience.

2017-05-15  MOSQUE IN ISTANBUL II

After taking off my shoes at the signed area at the entrance of the mosque, I went in and was astounded again of the atmosphere and the architectural artworks. I was entirely free to take my photos. And I noticed how many believers were inside during the day, compared to the Christian churches, which are most of the time empty if there are no holy masses.

2017-05-14  THE YELLOW MEADOW

Last weekend we made a trip with our Vespa to the “Lainzer Tiergarten,” a big area of greeneries and wood and some free-living boars and deer. With my luck, I didn’t see any animals, my wife saw a snake, but only for some seconds. 🙂 This meadow with thousands of dandelions was an eye-catcher, and one of the dozens of photos I took.

2017-05-13  RIVER IN TICINO WITH OVERSIZED GRAVEL

This River in Ticino, Switzerland, was a refreshing experience. The water was cold, there were even warning signs, that this cold water could harm your health if you have problems with your bloodstream. I waded through the river, water only until knee height, my lower feet got numb immediately. 🙂 The stones which were spread all over the river looked like oversized gravel stones. 🙂

2017-05-12  TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY

The invitation to a business dinner brought me to the 8th floor of the Haas House in Vienna, built by the architect Hans Hollein. From there you have a panorama view of the Stephansplatz, Graben and Carinthian Street. Since I had only the iPhone with me, I took the opportunity to do an evening shot of this building on the Graben.
