2017-09-10  HUNDREDS OF WIND MILLS

The Burgenland, or called “Land of Castles,” one of the nine states of Austria, is very flat. It’s an entry point for heavy winds, which is predestinated to win energy from wind mills. On the horizon you see hundreds of them, spinning their wheels slowly with the wind.

2017-09-09  NEW YORK CITY BLACK AND WHITE

“New York City ist die heißeste Stadt, wenn man einen neuen Boyfriend und ein Hotelzimmer hat.
NYC ist mein Lieblingsplatz, weil die Leute, die ich da kenne, sind ein wahrer Schatz.”

“New York City is the hottest place
For a honeymoon in a hotel room
New York City is my favorite place
‘Cause I know so many people with a golden face”  song text of “New York” by Nina Hagen.

2017-09-08  ART GALLERY ALBERTINA

In many art galleries taking photos is forbidden, but mostly only if you have cameras. 😯 Taking photos with smartphones are no problem; nobody says anything because nearly everyone does it. With a camera, the old thinking prevails, that you shoot photos with flash, which makes the color of the exhibited picture flat. However, I try my best, to make the photos without too much sensation, and of course without flash, which would be absurdly anyway, because of the light reflections of the paintings.

2017-09-07  GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE IN THE FOG

Our last day in San Francisco brought us to an observation deck at the hills in the south-west of SF. Since all photo equipment was packed already for the flight, I had only my Leica D-Lux 5 left. I thought, better than the phone and took my last shots of the Golden Gate Bridge with fog coming off the sea.

2017-09-06  HIGH SPEED TRAIN IN JAPAN

Standing at a train station near Mount Fuji, waiting for the train to Tokyo, suddenly a Shinkansen thunders with high speed through the train station. The intermediate trails reserve the transit traffic. You hear the Shinkansen roaring, then you see him coming, and some seconds later he has disappeared. Wow!!  😎

2017-09-05  THE BIG WAY UP TO GLORIETTE IN SCHÖNBRUNN

The view from the castle brings you the full splendor of the gardens and beauty of the Gloriette. On the ground of all the ways up lies gravel, which brings you gray, dusty shoes until you reach the peak of the hill. 🙂  I made this experience with black leather shoes, which I had on during the walk. Because I was not preparing for this visit; I even wore business clothes, this all happened by accident.

2017-09-04  MOSQUE IN ISTANBUL

This colorful ceiling of this mosque in Istanbul showed how detailed and elaborated these mosaics are. I think the building time must have lasted many years to bring it to that level, with great workers and architects behind. For this relatively low light environment I used my Sony A7S, the “King of Low Light”.

2017-09-03  AFRICAN DAYS

The African Days is an event on the Danube Island in Vienna, with food trucks, market stalls and two live concerts per day. I filmed the band “Black Prophet” on stage, it was entertaining, rhythmic music. I had my Sony A7R, Sony LA-EA4 adapter and the A-mount Sony Zeiss 135mm 1.8 lens with me, did handheld filming during the night with auto-focus, which I fixed with the focus-lock button on the lens.

2017-09-02  OIL PUMP IN THE FIELD

Oil in central Europe is scarce, in Lower Austria, in an area called Marchfeld, you can find some oil pumps in the middle of the agricultural landscape. These pumps get operated by the OMV, are very silent during pumping. As I was a kid, I was there with my bike looking at it, going up and down, up and down. Now I take photos with my quad copter DJI Phantom 4 Pro.  🙂

2017-09-01  TAJ MAHAL WEST SIDE

I looked from a different angle when shooting one of the most photographed monuments on earth. I had the sun on the higher frame, the Taj Mahal in the middle and some Indian people on the right standing that tiled floor. With the wide angle lens, this gives a new composition which I like. If you are on that site where I did the photo you have already walking socks on your feet because entry to the Taj Mahal is only allowed without shoes to protect the monument. The correct strategy to keep that building protected for the generations to come.
