2018-04-10   THE NIGHTS IN ROME

By | 2018-04-08T14:45:19+00:00 April 10th, 2018|Rome|

Growing up with the movies of Federico Fellini brought their pictures of Italy into my mind. Nowadays walking through Italian cities brings back reminiscences of those scenes, and I try to immerse into Fellini’s world. In Rome, looking at the traffic jams, I think of Fellini’s “Roma”. Exploring Rome in the night, I think of actor Marcello Mastroianni walking through this nightly city.

2017-12-05  COLOSSEUM OF THE GLADIATORS

By | 2017-12-04T20:01:58+00:00 December 5th, 2017|Rome|

Walking around on the stages and paths of the Colosseum in Rome brought my thoughts to the movie Gladiator from Ridley Scott. The audio guide talked about the history of the fighting of gladiators and wild animals. The thousands of years old walls and stairs gave your fantasy a feel for the drama of those times. One of the most imposing buildings I have ever seen.  😎 I tried the pano mode of my Sony camera which leads to beautiful results if you can handle this feature. 🙂

2017-05-03  BRIDGE IN ROME

By | 2017-05-02T21:39:22+00:00 May 3rd, 2017|Rome|

Walking around in Rome during my waiting time for a business date brought me to that bridge. For me, the atmosphere, the two streetlights, and the background were typical Rome and therefore the next stop for taking a photo.

2017-03-20 LIFE IN ROME

By | 2017-03-14T21:44:02+00:00 March 20th, 2017|Rome|

What do I like most in Rome? Walking around, looking after impressive buildings and streets, trying to get interesting photos, taking an espresso from time to time. My walking stint is many, many miles per day, good sneakers are important  :-), particularly in the right size.

2017-02-07 ROME PREPARES ITSELF FOR A NEW DAY

By | 2017-02-07T18:22:59+00:00 February 7th, 2017|Rome|

I had a meeting at AAMS (an authority)  in Rome at 11 am. The flight started at 6 am  😐 from Vienna and I was in Rome at about 8 am. I used this time to explore how Rome prepares for a new day, the markets get open, the coffee bars get crowded, the suppliers bring their goods to the shops, children go to school, this all looks special in Italy.  🙂

2017-02-02 GREAT VIEW IN ROME

By | 2017-01-30T21:30:49+00:00 February 2nd, 2017|Rome|

The eternal city is a photographer’s dream. From one street to the next, from bridge to bridge, nearly everywhere are photo motives. For staying fresh you get espressos at every corner, sometimes I also take a vanilla croissant… the Italian ones are the best   🙂

2016-11-05 MEN ON THE STREETS OF ROME

By | 2017-01-10T20:15:22+00:00 November 5th, 2016|Rome|

Being in Rome often reminds me of the movie “Roma” from Federico Fellini and other Italian movies playing in Rome. In the alleys and streets you find reminiscences of some scenes of those movies. All in all I like being in cities and get connections to movies I have seen …

2016-08-09 ILLUMINATI ROME

By | 2017-01-10T20:15:25+00:00 August 9th, 2016|Rome|

Though this is not from the movie, it reminds me of Illuminati with the mysterious frocks and the grim faces. If you go through the alleys of Rome with the old buildings you think more and more about the sceneries in the movie.  🙂

2016-07-17 ROME OFFSIDE

By | 2017-01-10T20:15:26+00:00 July 17th, 2016|Rome|

I had 2 hours time waiting for a meeting which location was a bit offside the city center. So I tried to do the best with my time and take photos  🙂  And I can tell you, in Rome the whole city is interesting, you can explore, look around and are fascinated nearly wherever you are.

2016-06-26 GLADIATOR FOR REAL

By | 2017-01-10T20:15:27+00:00 June 26th, 2016|Rome|

If you are in the imposing Colosseum in Rome you can imagine how the battles between gladiators, slaves and wild animals happened in this arena. From its size, it is bigger than many football stadiums and this was built nearly 2000 years ago. One tip for entrance, buy an online ticket in advance to avoid the queues of visitors, I have never seen so many before any sight I have visited.
