2020-04-22  THE WINDING STREETS OF ROME

You can often see these small winding streets in Italian cities with a medieval town center. In Rome, there are multi-story buildings that wind through areas of the city. This city still has many secrets that are not often mentioned.

2019-08-03 ROME AND ITS FOUNTAINS

At times, I completely lost my bearings as I wandered through the multitude of alleyways in Rome. It was already late at night and could then take pictures of night scenes like this illuminated fountain. These architectural pearls can only be found in Italy.

2019-03-16 SIWSS GUARD IN ROME

Many decades will elapse, hard times and good times will come and go, cold weather and storms and hot temperatures, but Rome will stay. The eternal city, full of history and religion, with its massive and timeless buildings.

2018-11-13   COLOSSEUM IN ROME

After passing the long line with a queue of hundreds of people were queued, I was entering at the Online-ticket counter where only a handful of tourists were standing. Inside this historical, unique building I was surprised at what good shape the walls, pillars, and steps were. For a short time, you could imagine of the big events and fights which happened there during the Roman Empire.

2018-04-10   THE NIGHTS IN ROME

Growing up with the movies of Federico Fellini brought their pictures of Italy into my mind. Nowadays walking through Italian cities brings back reminiscences of those scenes, and I try to immerse into Fellini’s world. In Rome, looking at the traffic jams, I think of Fellini’s “Roma”. Exploring Rome in the night, I think of actor Marcello Mastroianni walking through this nightly city.

2017-12-05  COLOSSEUM OF THE GLADIATORS

Walking around on the stages and paths of the Colosseum in Rome brought my thoughts to the movie Gladiator from Ridley Scott. The audio guide talked about the history of the fighting of gladiators and wild animals. The thousands of years old walls and stairs gave your fantasy a feel for the drama of those times. One of the most imposing buildings I have ever seen.  😎 I tried the pano mode of my Sony camera which leads to beautiful results if you can handle this feature. 🙂

2017-05-03  BRIDGE IN ROME

Walking around in Rome during my waiting time for a business date brought me to that bridge. For me, the atmosphere, the two streetlights, and the background were typical Rome and therefore the next stop for taking a photo.

2017-03-20 LIFE IN ROME

What do I like most in Rome? Walking around, looking after impressive buildings and streets, trying to get interesting photos, taking an espresso from time to time. My walking stint is many, many miles per day, good sneakers are important  :-), particularly in the right size.

2017-02-07 ROME PREPARES ITSELF FOR A NEW DAY

I had a meeting at AAMS (an authority)  in Rome at 11 am. The flight started at 6 am  😐 from Vienna and I was in Rome at about 8 am. I used this time to explore how Rome prepares for a new day, the markets get open, the coffee bars get crowded, the suppliers bring their goods to the shops, children go to school, this all looks special in Italy.  🙂

2017-02-02 GREAT VIEW IN ROME

The eternal city is a photographer’s dream. From one street to the next, from bridge to bridge, nearly everywhere are photo motives. For staying fresh you get espressos at every corner, sometimes I also take a vanilla croissant… the Italian ones are the best   🙂
