2017-01-11 MORNING SCENE IN VENICE

January morning in Venice, cold, foggy, grey – an atmosphere which describes winter months. I was the second time in Venice in a January and like it most during this time. Not so many people, you  don’t have too long lines at the different sights, hotels are a bit cheaper and this nice atmosphere.  🙂

2017-01-10 STREET IN ANDERMATT

After passing the Gotthard Pass we got hungry and found a place to eat in Andermatt. It’s some kind of ski resort in the winter and you can see intense construction activity in the summer months. After the typical Swiss food we took a little walk through the streets to get fit again for the journey to Lucerne.

2017-01-09 STONE SCULPTURES IN JAPANESE GARDEN

What makes a Japanese Garden so attractive? For me the stone sculptures, the little curved bridges, the pond with koi carps and the neat bushes and trees. All in all a real feel good environment, 100% recommended.

2017-01-08 PEAK OF GOTTHARD PASS, SWITZERLAND

Since we heard via radio that there would be a 2 hours waiting time through the Gotthard Road Tunnel we have chosen to take the street over the Gotthard Pass. We were rewarded with a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys and could breath fresh, cool mountain air. And I took time to shoot some photos of the peak…

2017-01-07 MAN WITH BARREL ORGAN

An older man playing on a barrel organ is always an eye catcher for the younger and older ones, especially if the organ is in such a good shape as on this photo and the person behind looks and behaves like the typical organ player.

2017-01-06 NEAR PIAZZA SAN MARCO

It was a bit of challenge to take this photo, because even in the begin of January Piazza San Marco and the surroundings are crowded by many tourists and many don’t see or recognize that you are taking photos with a tripod and run through your exposure in all directions. So I had to wait for the specific moment …  I used the Sony FE 10-18 F4 APS-C lens, which works very well on full frame  🙂

2017-01-04 THE BIG LAKE MICHIGAN FROM WILLIS TOWER

Willis tower is still one of the highest buildings in the world, no wonder that you can get a great view in all four cardinal directions. The only drawback for photographers is, that you have to shoot through a window, there is no observation deck outside.

2017-01-03 SHOPPING IN AMSTERDAM

This is one of the shopping centers in Amsterdam with historic background. You can see the nice arcs and stony facades which brings you a special experience going over those gangways and steps.
