2017-05-11  GLACIER DACHSTEIN

The cool thing with the glaciers is the snow with winter scenery on the peak, while in the valley you have warm to hot temperatures and could go swimming in a lake. The last time I experienced this was at the “Hoher Dachstein” a glacier with 2995 m, skiing on the top, spring in the valley. From my point of view, I had a great impression of the whole mountain chain.  🙂

2017-05-10  SWEET DISHES IN TOKYO

This showcase contained delicious, appetizing sweet dishes, formed fancifully. It was an eye-catcher looking at it, and the taste was excellent. It’s always a good idea, to present food in a pleasing way to one’s eyes.

2017-05-09  DRONE FLYING IN TYROL

A wild river, snowy trees, high mountains – ideal for a drone flight. In Ischgl, Tyrol I found all these ingredients at one place and was eager after breakfast to move to that location and start filming. I verified that the SD cards and batteries were in the bag. At the site, I placed the iPhone of my wife onto the Zhiyun Smooth II gimbal. I can thoroughly recommend that gimbal, it holds the phone steady, and it is easy to handle. 🙂 Then filming started, and I took my DJI Phantom 4 Pro out of the box.

Have a look at the video with the starting procedure:

The flying experience:

The landing, I had to be very careful, “Return to home” function didn’t work, because of the high trees, I did the process manually:

2017-05-08  ILLUMINATED BUILDINGS IN NICE

Walking on the Promenade Des Anglais during the evening and in the night shows you many illuminated buildings. Those give a cool look; often the palm trees are lightened too, this all adds to the popularity of the Cote d’Azure. On the promenade you see many street musicians and instant-portrait-painters which do a great job, they can paint a  portrait of you, only with a carbon pencil. If you wish the style can be realistic or if you choose funny, then the picture looks like a face from a photo morphing program. 🙂

2017-05-07  COUPLE SITTING DOWN IN CAFE

I spent about 1 hour in the Cafe Castelletto in the first district of Vienna. From time to time I like to take an energy drink with ice, so I ordered a Red Bull. Occasionally I took some shots of the sceneries, as here with this old couple which was taking place at the table. I tried to do the photos unobtrusive. 🙂

2017-05-06  HOTEL IN NEW DELHI

The Le Meridien was an impressive hotel, built like a four-sided farmyard in bigger style. It was about 3 am as we arrived in New Delhi.  Even during that time, middle of the night, there were about 20 people of hotel staff around, helping with entry control, the luggage, the check-in, the elevators and showing the room. I was lucky that I had already changed some money at the airport, for the tips. 🙂

2017-05-05  CHICAGO FROM THE TOWER

It’s a pity that most of the towers don’t have open air observation decks anymore, often you have to shoot through the windows, like here on the Willis Tower in Chicago. Then you have to search after a relatively clean, scratch-free window to take your photos. With this, you get motives you maybe won’t shoot frequently but bring you still excellent views.

2017-05-04  THE OLD CRAFTMAN’S TRADE

Even some younger guys find back to the profession of the shoemaker. You need smooth leather, hammer, scissor, nails, heels to form and build a high-quality shoe. The whole process lasts hours and needs some skill, strength, and endurance. The results are unique shoes which often last for a lifetime. 🙂

2017-05-03  BRIDGE IN ROME

Walking around in Rome during my waiting time for a business date brought me to that bridge. For me, the atmosphere, the two streetlights, and the background were typical Rome and therefore the next stop for taking a photo.

2017-05-02  DANUBE CANAL WITH SHIP

Since I was waiting for my wife Karin on a Saturday forenoon, I walked around the Danube canal and took some shots from the area. A ship, the canal, buildings and the bridge, only possible with a wide angle lens. I mostly have my Sony FE 10-14 lens with me, because again and again, it is incidental that it’s a necessity.
