2017-07-31  QUTB MINAR – THE SPECTACULAR TOWER

From the dozens of overwhelming impressions in New Delhi, the Qutb Minar was one of my favorites. Building started in 1192, it is made of sand stone and marble and has many gravures and ornaments. Qutb Minar is a highly frequented area where many Indians as well as tourists from the whole world visit. It was very a hot that day, outside at the parking place, there were some puddles of dirty water, where some of the wild dogs of New Delhi took a bath for cooling down. 🙂 For getting a different look at that photo, I did post processing with Nik Analog Efex Pro 2.

2017-07-30  ASCONA AT LAKE MAGGIORE

Ascona lies at the Lake Maggiore in Ticino, the southmost canton of Switzerland. The vegetation is a mixture of alpine woods and bushes and Mediterranean plants. The southern part of the lake already belongs to Italy. The water is very clean, and in the middle of the lake, there is an island with a neat botanical garden.

2017-07-29  ROBOTS ARE THE FUTURE

Though that’s only a fun simulation of robotics, it represents the symbol of robots which will look like humans, as seen in Swarovski Crystal World. Many have already the vacuum cleaners, robotics lawn mowers or the swimming pool cleaners at home. Soon we will see the robots as helpers in the household, guides in hotels, autonomous drivers, physical avatars, a broad spectrum of use cases awaits us. I think there is no reason to get afraid; it will have a significant impact for the better. 🙂

2017-07-28  THE DECISIVE MOMENT

Sometimes you have to act fast. I was in the middle of this street in San Francisco, both cameras were in my photo bag, only seconds before the next cars were coming, I grabbed my iPhone from my jeans pocket and was ready to shoot. For photos posted on websites, it’s often irrelevant if they originate from a smartphone or DSLR, most viewers won’t see a difference. The result counts, and that you have got the shot you wanted.

2017-07-27  SUNSET AT BAIA BEACH MALTA

The northern part of Malta has those classical sandy beaches with blue sea and sunshades. The sinking sun adds to that beach stereotype, then the warm breeze of air and the smell of salty sea water. Outside on the terrace of Baia Beach Club, you have the great view of the lagoon, this combined with a Frangelico on the rocks, and you have a lovely evening. The Frangelico is an Italian liqueur made from hazelnuts and tastes like a liquid Nutella. 🙂

2017-07-26  BRIDAL SHOP IN VERONA

For what is Italy famous for? Fashion is on the top list, even the bridal dresses have a unique Italian chic. Accidentally I entered that street where I saw a bridal shop which gave a cool lighting in this darker hour. I wanted to get the whole atmosphere with the contrasts on one photo, the perfect use for my wide angle Samyang 14mm AF lens.

2017-07-25  HABSBURG’S “Villa Hermés” HERMESVILLA

The House of Habsburg built the Hermesvilla by architect Karl Freiherr von Hasenauer between 1882 and 1886. This picture shows the backyard after a heavy downpour from which we had to flee into the inner of the building. There we had a cup of coffee, then after the rain stopped and the first sunbeams appeared, I was outside shooting. I like the smell after rain showers; the air is so clear and crisp.  🙂

2017-07-24  ROOF LIKE A SPACE SHIP

Since we had some spare time before noon, my colleagues of Pure Storage event and me visited the California Institute of Sciences in San Francisco. A great building and exhibition, with a rain forest inside which stretches four levels, with a high variety of plants and butterflies. On the top, you can see that futuristic roof, which reminds me of a space ship ready for taking off. 🙂

2017-07-23  THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC,

Though I am the rock, pop, electronic – music guy, on Saturday, I got an invitation from my brother and his girlfriend to attend a classical concert of Russian composers like Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and others presented by a Czech orchestra. It was open air on a castle ground in Kirchstetten, Lower Austria; I can only recommend listening to such music from time to time.

“So I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me” (Abba).  😎

2017-07-22  CINQUE TERRE WALK

The walk between Corniglia and Monterosso, hot, stony, dusty, steep, great views, heart rate 140 (according my iWatch), if you are there, I can recommend to do it. 🙂  The walk lasted about 4 hours, we arrived at about 4 pm in Monterosso, where we saw a fountain with fresh water at the village square, the first step for cooling off. Then we entered the beach and took a longer bathe in the mediterranean sea, the second phase for cooling off. 🙂 In the evening for dinner, we got fried calamari, an Italian specialty.
