2018-03-21   NIGHTLY WALK IN BARCELONA

Here I placed my mini-tripod on the floor to get a different view of the walkway with the street-lights. The warm weather on that January night brought an extensive photo tour where I could explore a dozen different locations. I tried all kind of exposure settings, hdr-settings, f-stops and viewing angles. Such photo nights should happen more often!

2018-03-20   THE BIG HALL

Most museum halls are always good for wide-angle photos which capture the whole dimension of those astounding interiors; I shot that picture which in the Edinburgh Museum. Often you can use the handrail of the parapets for placing your camera for steady shots without using a tripod. So you are faster and more flexible because tripods aren’t welcomed sometimes.

2018-03-19   TERRACES NEAR MDINA

On the walkway up to Mdina I did that shot of the terraces with that little city on top. Because of the heavy clouds I thought it would be raining soon, but the sun kept shining and we had a nice later afternoon in Mdina. Since I was at a work outing, we had as a program to attend at a paperchase. Getting a list of instructions to fulfill was a good opportunity to explore Mdina and its surroundings.

2018-03-18   VIEW FROM THE CHARLES BRIDGE

The Charles Bridge has broader concrete handrails where you can place a (mini)-tripod easily. So did I to use my Sony A7S and the Rokinon 14mm AF 2.8 E-mount lens to capture the lightning since from the next bridge and to get the desired wide-angel view. Prague is an exciting city during the night, many parts shine in colorful lights, and many headlights make additional illumination effects.

2018-03-17   INDUSTRIAL

Abandoned factory buildings which nowadays the owners use for events and rave parties are often good photo motives, different from the standard tourist hot spots. I shot the photo in the blog article in a brewery building in Vienna during a coffee exhibition. There were coffee variants to taste the exotic flavors and brews. For me an opportunity to try my telephoto lens which otherwise stays at home too often.  🙂

2018-03-16   RED HOUSE IN EDINBURGH

I saw that scene by accident, the red house with the yellow traffic guidelines. I was ready for a fast shot, because the next cars were already approaching and I had the leave the street fast.  🙂

2018-03-15   THE REMARKABLE PARK

I arrived at the park entry via taxi. There is no Uber in Barcelona; they banned it. Many parts of Park Güell were under construction this year in January. Nevertheless, I was eager to take the shots I had in my mind before entering the park. For the heart of the park, you have to pay an entry fee, a more extensive area surrounding is free of charge. For the Gaudi art-work made from tiles and colored stones, you have to enter the inner circle.

2018-03-14   MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY IN VIENNA

Although the entry hall and the staircases are looking like a magnificent castle, the showrooms are outdated. I think it was back in the mid-50s when the building of the interior took place. The same is true for the taxidermically prepared animals. However, it has some charm to walk through these rooms with the parquet floors and the glass cabinets. All looks antiquated but artfully.

2018-03-13   NIGHTLY WAY IN BARCELONA

I shot his photo near the Placa de Les Cascades on a nightly walk in January. I visited Barcelona to attend the Cisco Live event. The weather was excellent, a light jacket or a sports coat was enough for the evening temperatures. I had my camera mounted with the mini-tripod, so I was ready for night shooting with different compositions.

2018-03-12   WALK OF THE LIGHT IN SINGAPORE

After a long walking tour through Singapore, my son Maro and I arrived at the Art & Science Museum 45 minutes before closing. Four different exhibitions were running; the remaining time was only sufficient for two. However, we entered and were impressed by that state of the art museum. The plastic-crystal walk of light illumination gathered my attention and was ready to shoot this art object.
