2018-03-11   TEMPLE IN THE RAINFOREST

While driving through Langkawi, I saw that temple on the street side. I turned at the next street crossing promptly and soon parked beneath that building. There was one guardian, who looked that we pull off our shoes and then we could enter. It was a very colorful and detailed temple with many deities, from which we don’t know much as a Westerner. It was interesting to explore that foreign culture and take some impressions with us.

2018-03-10   WINDOW IN PRAGUE CASTLE

You can prepare for a more extended walking tour of Prague Castle. It’s the largest ancient castle in the world, with about 70,000 square meters (750,000 square feet). Even the Czech president lives there. After leaving a bigger ballroom, I saw that craft-fully built ceiling with that shiny window at the exit. Right time for a photo!

2018-03-09   SHOPPING MARKET IN SINGAPORE

A shopping market within a shopping mall tries to cover the diverse needs of the customers. For those who want the communication, the advice and the interaction at a shopping experience, this little market is perfect.

2018-03-08   STREET WITH VIADUCT IN VERONA

The many details you can find in Italian streets, you walk around, and suddenly there is a viaduct between two houses. You are on an ongoing cultural trip, to stay fit and keep on going, a double espresso helps. Mostly the Italians make it perfect, short, with the right amount of coffee foam and excellent taste. 🙂

2018-03-07   GATE TO LITTLE INDIA IN SINGAPORE

One of my favorite destinations to visit in Singapore was Little India. Walking around there, awakened my reminiscences of New Dheli, which I have visited the year before. My son accompanied me; we went into an emporium, which was utterly staffed, from electronics to apparel, from bedding to security locks, from food to snacks. After taking a mango drink, we took the main road, which was replete with fine jewelry shops. It was impressive, to see so much gold in the shopping windows.

2018-03-06   HUNTING CHATEAU ECKARTSAU INSIDE

After the music concert in hunting chateau Eckartsau in Lower Austria, my wife Karin was already in the courtyard to eat snacks and try a glass of Prosecco. I stayed some minutes on the first floor to take photos of the interior. Older castles with their generous rooms and ornaments are always good for photos.

2018-03-05   TOURIST BOAT IN DUBAI

Near the Burj Khalifa lies that artificial lake where water shows and boat excursions take place. For me an excellent opportunity for some tripod shots. But suddenly I was exhorted by a guard not to use the tripod anymore. “Taking photos no problem, but not with the tripod” ??  However, after he was aways I did 2-3 additional shots, then removed the tripod and did the shots with the camera placed on the concrete fence. Same result.

2018-03-04   ROOF OF A MOSQUE IN ISTANBUL

One beautiful, versatile roof of a mosque in Istanbul. I have visited four mosques, each of them was a unique experience. I had to put off my shoes at the entry. Then you go in and walk on a big, soft carpet. The carpets have many colorful embroidery patterns which build a perfect harmony with the artful roofs.

2018-03-03   JAPANESE GIRL IN PARK GÜELL

It was my second time in Park Güell. The observation area in the middle of the park was only accessible on the sideways; the rest was under construction. I had to be careful with my photos to avoid site blankets on the pictures. It happened that I could capture that scene with this Japanese girl sitting on a tile-work bench with the typical Park Güell-buildings, and a dove,  in the background. Great design work by Antoni Gaudi.

2018-03-02   MDINA GATE MALTA

The city Mdina is enclosed by a city wall, the photo shows the Mdina Gate as the only entry into the city. The area is very popular with film crews, parts of the movie Gladiator and episodes of Game of Thrones have been filmed there. A touristy “Games of Thrones”-tour shows you the filming-locations. Inside the city are narrow streets and high buildings, dating back to the 14th century. Currently it has a population of 236.  🙂
