2019-04-20 SINGAPORE THE OLD AND THE NEW

The photo shows the contrast between the older buildings and the new skyscrapers in Singapore. I don’t know where I shot this photo; I walked around so much. I think it was near a food hall, where I got excellent Chinese beef with chard and Teriyaki sauce accompanied by a green pineapple-lemongrass-ginger drink.

2019-04-19 SUNSET FROM THE CLIFFS OF DUNDEE

On my Scotland list was Edinburgh, cliffs and a Loch. Edinburgh was easy, the destination of the flight. For the cliffs we had to go North, the first meaningful cliffs were near Dundee. First, the car navigation system brought us on a green field with a farmhouse and some cows, not where we wanted to be. Therefore I took the direction in my own hands and found the cliffs before sunset — the best time for photographers. 🙂  I had time to fly with my drone and take some sunset photos directly from the cliffs handheld.

2019-04-18 25 HOURS HOTEL IN COLOGNE

The photo shows the lobby and the way to the elevators in 25 Hours Hotel in Cologne. I was there only one night, on a Friday where I visited the FIBO exhibition on Saturday. Cologne is a dynamic city, worth a visit.

2019-04-17 ABSTRACTION OF A CAR

While waiting for my wife Karin, I was underway with street-photography. At Lido di Venezia, there is a longer boulevard where I was ready to take some lower shutter speed shots of driving cars. I planned to get a photo with an abstraction of a car with Italian buildings in the background. You can see, it worked out. For the shutter speed, the tenth of a second unit makes the difference of the outcome for the blurriness.

2019-04-16 CROSSWALK IN SAN FRANCISCO

We were stopping at a crossroad in San Francisco. I used the waiting time for shooting a photo through the windshield. I was pleased from photographing out of the driving car windows and got some decent shots which surprised me with untypical compositions.

2019-04-15 SUBWAY TUNNEL IN STOCKHOLM

I think there is only a handful of the artist painted subway stations in Stockholm. “Google” after it and take the subway for a station roundtrip — worth a look, more joy waiting for a train with so much creativity.

2019-04-14 THE UR-LEICA IN WETZLAR

A photo of the Ur-Leica shot with a Leica in the Leica World in Wetzlar. A place I can recommend to every photo enthusiast. Full of history, great photos and four display windows where you can look live at the assemblies of cameras and lenses. The original Ur-Leica was designed and built by Oskar Barnack. There was a photo gallery with pictures originally shot by Oskar Barnack with his Ur-Leica. A memorable moment and exhibition.

2019-04-13 NIGHT IN PRAGUE

My wife stayed in a restaurant while I was on the bridge and shooting with a mini-tripod the hot spot of Prague. The Charles Bridge, the begin of the old town, the Old Town Bridge Tower and the promenade and park beneath the Vltava River, all on one photo and illuminated in good weather. What a lucky day.

2019-04-12 RUNNING IN THE PARK

My wife Karin is training for the 10-km women’s run. Preferably she runs her rounds in the Türkenschanzpark, like many others which are training for the race. The park became famous from the Turks siege in 1683, where Viennese fighters defended the city against the Ottomans Army. Since I had my fitness program for the day already, I was sitting on a park bank and shooting photos of the runners.

2019-04-10 MARKET IN HAIGHT ASHBURY

At the time of my visit to San Francisco, the Summer of Love Festival took place. Exactly where the hippie movement had its roots. Upper Haight Street turned into a freak show, dozens of street food and souvenir items filled the street sides. There was a smell of pot, live bands playing, people dancing on the street to “American Pie” by Don McLean. That was the year 1968 again.
