2019-07-19 MILAN PIAZZA DEL DUOMO

Even sometimes you can benefit from the tourists on Piazza del Duomo. The place is crowded all the time. With some individual compositions, you can put tourists in a new light like this Asian girl doing smartphone shots of her girlfriend.

2019-07-17 HONG KONG STREET FROM THE BUS

When entering a Red Bus, I always move to the upper deck and try to get a seat on edge. There I can lean forward and stand up for photo shooting. I love to shoot streets, and Hong Kong provides a perfect scenery. The perspective of the bus often gives a slight advantage compared to the ground. The view gets more-dimensional. It’s crucial, having a zoom lens on the camera. There is often the need to vary the focal length.

2019-07-16 VILLAGE CHURCHES IN AUSTRIA

I am always surprised by what great interior decoration you can find in village churches. Often the villages have only a few thousand inhabitants. But have magnificent churches meticulously maintained with organs, ornaments, and golden structures. I think I shot this photo of a church, which is in a place in the World Heritage Wachau in Austria.

2019-07-15 HOTEL CHECK IN SAN DIEGO

I love hotel lobbies and service desks. They are the first point of connection between guest and hotel and at the same time, the command center. The styling and integration into the hotel lobbies generate again and again my interest. Often I am then with my camera or smartphone on the spot, as here at the Intercontinental San Diego.

2019-07-14 BIKER IN BOLZANO

We came back from Merano by train. It was already evening when we went out of the railway station. On the way to the hotel, we were exploring the streets of Bolzano, where I shot the last photos, before going to bed after the 12-hour trip.

2019-07-13 NIGHTLY STREETS IN BARCELONA

Even in January, it had pleasant temperatures in the nighttime Barcelona. I had my mini tripod with me and was able to create new perspectives. At times you should leave the comfort zone and look for the proximity to the road. 🙂

2019-07-12 ESCAPE FROM THE RAIN

Sudden heavy rain drove us to the National Museum in Edinburgh. I was immediately fascinated by the extensive galleries and balconies. I placed myself in an upper floor, put the camera on the balcony railing and was thus able to photograph wide-angle shots. They show the impressive extent of the museum hall.

2019-07-11 BIRTHDAY OF MY WIFE

At my wife Karin’s birthday we visited the open-air roof-top bar of the Ritz Carlton in Vienna. After we sat down on the couch and ordered the drinks, it started to rain. We flew under some umbrellas, where a waiter suggested to change the location to the ground floor bar. The ambiance was very nice, and I used the situation to take out my Leica and made some birthday photos.

2019-07-09 A CATHEDRAL IN TOULOUSE

We lived on the pedestrian street and saw the cathedral above the rooftops in Toulouse. First, we had to overcome a construction site to get inside. The massive porticoes let me reach for my camera in amazement. I was reminded of the Tolkien films Lord of the Rings when I saw the columns and roofs.

2019-07-08 LAKE COMO

Como achieved fame through George Clooney’s residence in the area. Maybe that was the reason that my wife Karin suggested spending a few days in Como. After a 10-hour drive by car, we reached the city. The first evening we had to go for a walk on the lake promenade. There I was able to shoot photos of Lake Como in the evening colors.
