2019-10-31 EXHIBITION ROOM IN THE GETTY MUSEUM

The biggest exhibition of the Roman Empire I have ever seen. The exhibits are in the best conditions; the presentation is top. The whole building was rebuilt with Roman architecture as a role model. Don’t miss it, when you are in LA.

2019-10-30 WAITING FOR THE BATS IN AUSTIN

It was already after 7:30 pm, the predicted time for the bats to start flying. I waited half an hour long and used the time to take sunset photos under the bridge. I saw only a handful of bats; however, very nice to watch. But the invasion with the launch of hundreds of thousands of bats has failed this day.

2019-10-29 THE COLORS OF LAS VEGAS

The excitement of Las Vegas really turns out in the night. Lights and colors shine and the city gets its beautiful glow. I was standing on one of the bridges which span the two lanes of the strip.

2019-10-28 WE WANT TO REACH THE GOAL

When hiking, it is very helpful to note the signs. A detour can extend over several kilometers, and then the return journey could be very tedious. Especially if you are already in the dark. I’ve already experienced myself and have just made it to the valley.

2019-10-27 SOME DRINKS IN ASCONA

Since my wife worked in Switzerland during her gastronomy training for one year, twenty years ago, we decided to revisit Switzerland. The journey brought us from Chur, where she worked back then, to Ascona in Ticino. At a bar, we had a Hugo Cocktail, where my focusing was merely on the glasses. 🙂

2019-10-25 NIGHT SCENE AT PIAZZA DUOMO IN MILAN

When to shoot black and white photos? Walking around on the Piazza Duomo in Milan is built for b&w. The facades of the buildings with the nightly lamps give the classical shot of Italian cities. It reminds me of the films by Federico Fellini.

2019-10-24 WATER LILY IN A BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Botanical Garden of St. Gallen convinces with an appropriate variety and ingenuity of the flower creations. Many exotic plants are meticulously maintained. The ponds are home to many different water lilies. Informational cards describe the origin and cultivation of the plants.

2019-10-23 HOUSES IN ITALY

What can top the style of Italian cityscapes? The architecture combined with color and style is unique, sliced plants complement the appearance. For me, every time an opportunity for taking photos.

2019-10-22 TREES IN SAN DIEGO

I photographed these trees while driving from a sightseeing bus. To freeze the subject and reduce camera shake, I set a faster shutter speed. A good idea if you shoot your photos from moving drones, helicopters, or moving vehicles.

2019-10-20 THE ITALIAN CITY OF GRADO

Grado is one of the cities you visit if you want to go to the nearest point of the sea from middle and northern Europe. There are Trieste, Lignano, Caorle, and others at the Northern Adria. But Grado has this unique old town and size, where you can walk around in the city without getting too much exhausted. Many roads have bike lanes, restaurants, and bars line the roadside. For those interested, there are also arts and crafts shops.
