2019-01-16   CANDY STORE IN HARAJUKU

Wandering through the streets was my favorite hobby in Tokyo. The smaller lanes were more diversified. You could see dozens of little shops and kiosks on both sides of the road, from candy stores to electronic shops, from sushi restaurants to boutiques. Often you got new surprises on each corner. The dress of the girl suited well to the colorful interior of the store.

2019-01-15   CYCLING IN BOLZANO

My first journey to South Tyrol brought me to Bolzano, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Merano. Although it belongs to Italy for more than 60 years now, most of the people speak fluent German. Many road signs are in Italian and German; I think the autonomous status exists since 1972.

2019-01-14   PONS IN FRANCE

On the way to the Atlantic coast, my wife and I turned for a break. The next town was Pons. It lies on a higher hill with some historic buildings on its main square, surrounded by a park landscape. Nearby was a butcher, where we got ham and quiche, a tasty lunch.

2019-01-11   ASIAN GIRL IN THE DONAUPARK

I was sitting in the Liliput-Bahn, a narrow gauge railway with neat wagons and a little steam locomotive. It is a sightseeing train for tourists in the Donaupark. Since I was waiting for my wife, I drove around and was shooting photos — an excellent opportunity to be inconspicuous.

2019-01-11   MUMOK VIENNA

Mumok is a museum with experimental art and modern design located at the Ringstraße in Vienna. Often I like the interior architecture more von the exhibits. To catch the whole scene and bring the dimension I used a wide angle lens.

2019-01-10   QUMRAN HOLES

Qumran is the home of the famous “Dead Sea Scrolls”. Though most of the original buildings are only fragments now, it was interesting to think about the history and the life of the Essenes. The landscape reminded me of the “Riders of the lost Arks”-movies and welcomed me to shoot photos of these unique rocks and hills.

2019-01-09   LONDON TOWN

Although my wife was sitting at the window seat, I used the opportunity and leaned sideways for shooting a photo, which didn’t help. Then I changed the place for getting the right exposure out of the plane window, under me London town with beautiful weather. I had the mini full-format camera Sony RX1R in my bag which was ready to go.

2019-01-08   TRAUTMANNSDORF CASTLE IN MERANO

My wife Karin and I rented two E-Bikes at the railway station in Merano. The bikes were nearly new and had a rack where I could store my photo bag. We took the uphill to the entry station of the Merano Gardens with Trautmannsdorf Castle easily. The energy of electricity helped, though I also used the power of my feet and energy of my body. After the ride we entered the botanical garden.

2019-01-07   JOGGING IN COMO

In the heart of the city is the gothic Como Cathedral. On the main square, there are bars and restaurants from where you can overlook this impressive building. After a pizza, I caught my camera and shot photos from my outside seating position in the restaurant. I never experienced such a comfortable photo session. But you never stop learning.

2019-01-06   BUDDHA IN ZEN GARDEN

In Langenlois I visited with my wife a show garden, which is famous for its winter decoration. After we were almost done with the sightseeing, I saw near the exit yet this Buddha statue. With the size of about 2 meters and the green illumination, I positioned myself and shot some nightly photos.
