2019-10-22 TREES IN SAN DIEGO

I photographed these trees while driving from a sightseeing bus. To freeze the subject and reduce camera shake, I set a faster shutter speed. A good idea if you shoot your photos from moving drones, helicopters, or moving vehicles.

2019-10-20 THE ITALIAN CITY OF GRADO

Grado is one of the cities you visit if you want to go to the nearest point of the sea from middle and northern Europe. There are Trieste, Lignano, Caorle, and others at the Northern Adria. But Grado has this unique old town and size, where you can walk around in the city without getting too much exhausted. Many roads have bike lanes, restaurants, and bars line the roadside. For those interested, there are also arts and crafts shops.

2019-10-19 MY KIDS IN JERUSALEM

This is one of the most iconic viewing points in the world. You can see the holy places of three religions, Christians, Muslims and Jews. I was there at dusk, watching the night go over Jerusalem and approach the lights in the city.

2019-10-17 THE OLD TRAIN STATION

These old stations always remind me of the Westerns by Sergio Leone, where the villains are still waiting for the arrival of the train, where the nervousness rises, and tension is in the air. Background music in the air. Often under a blazing hot sun. Like here on the photo the station of Huntsville, Canada.

2019-10-16 WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA

My first photo from California was from the 2nd floor of a shopping center in Santa Monica. My wife Karin and I were waiting for a place in the Cheesecake Factory. I used the time for some street photography shots. However, this photo was first a bit dark and colorless, after post-processing with HDR-toning and Photoshop. It worked out beautifully, as a good representation for California.

2019-10-14 THE MAGNIFICENT ROCKS OF MASADA

On top of the mountain in Masada, you can see the fragments of a fortress and old walls. Impressive, what was then made of stone and hard work. Many sidewalks have hit the rock face. The many steps should not deter one; you get rewarded with impressive views to the Dead Sea.

2019-10-13 RUNNING AND GRAFFITI

In Vienna, a kilometer-long graffiti zone has developed along the Danube Canal. At times I go there cycling or walking and photographing the artful walls with runners in action.

2019-10-10 MY DAUGHTER IN A CASTLE

On Sunday we were invited to a classical concert in Eckartsau Castle. My mother-in-law is a singer in a choir, and her conductor organized the event. I took the opportunity to shoot several photos of my daughter in the corridors of the castle. And again, an excellent opportunity to use my Leica M240.

2019-10-09 SUDDENLY THE VERONA ARENA WAS HERE

The road through the old town of Verona, which we had taken, suddenly ended in front of the magnificent Arena of Verona. The forecourt is a park lined with Italian bars and restaurants. Visit in the evening; then, you can see the arena and the park with impressive lighting.

2019-10-08 THE SEA LION ON THE BUOY

I was wondering how it was possible for the sea lion, to climb that metal buoy. Ball bottom and extremely slippery, he must clasp the buoy with his power of the fins and pull up step by step. Anyway, it was a funny sight at the harbor of San Diego.
