2020-04-19  ENDLESS L.A.

You get this view from the Griffith Observatory. Getting there can be a bit of a hassle if a lot of people have the same idea because of traffic jams and crowded parking lots. Anyway, the view is fantastic; you can see an endless sea of lights, buildings, and streets as far as the eye can see.

2020-04-17  GIRL ON THE ESCALATOR

A girl is coming up from the metro in Barcelona. One of the photos of my one-hour-photo tour I could do between two meetings. Even on a business trip, you can gain some time for your hobbies.

2020-04-16  ANDREAS GURSKY EXHIBITION

The best photo exhibition I have seen so far. The Heathrow Gallery showed the oversized photos of Andreas Gursky. Very impressive, if you are standing in front of pictures which are 4-6 meters long. You can imagine the work behind such an image—complete peace of art, from the composition to framing and printing.

2020-04-15  THE DOLOMITES

I only knew the Dolomites from photos, stories, and the geography lesson at school. When I first stood in front of these mountain peaks last year, I was impressed. The mountain ranges stretch for many kilometers along the roads and paths. The rugged and jagged rocks bring a wild and romantic mood across—ideal for shooting mountain films and taking photos.

2020-04-14  MY LAST VISITED HOTEL

The photo shows my room in the hotel Tulbingerkogel. It was at the yearly congress of my company where we discuss the strategies and future developments. Currently, all hotels are closed in Austria. The earliest will be the end of May for the tourism sector to open again.

2020-04-14  ASIAN MUSIC PLAYER IN VENICE

My wife Karin and I were on the way to the canal, where the Carnival opening would start. On a plaza, we saw that music player with this exotic musical instrument, which looked like a zither. She had a band-aid on her fingers because of the metal strings. Here music was in perfect harmony with the vibe of the city and its buildings.

2020-04-13  INSIDE A CHURCH IN VIENNA

More and more, I see a magic combination with the Sony A7R 2 and the Leica Vario-Elmar 35-70 F4 lens. Though you need a Leica R to E-Mount adapter and have to focus manually, the output is shining. According to Erwin Puts, it is one of the best Leica lenses and one of the cheapest too. It handled the tricky lighting brilliantly in the church.

2020-04-12  CYCLISTS IN AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam is the city of cyclists. It’s a good idea to rent a bike for your sightseeing; you will get forward very fast, can stop at all places and explore. There are many bicycle-lanes where Amsterdamers are quite speedy. And you have to share it even with some motorbikes. But you will adapt very fast. 🙂

2020-04-11  ENTRY TO A CHURCH

The entrance area to a church, with medieval walls. Dark and cold, as preparation for the next step in the seating area of the church.

2020-04-10  EXCURSION WITH MY DAUGHTER

On a Sunday afternoon, my daughter Cara, my wife Karin and I did a more extended walking tour to visit the Otto Wagner church. After a very rough walk up and down the hills, we came to the destination very sweaty. But this didn’t hinder me doing some photo-shots. For the picture I used my Leica M240 with the Leica R Vario-Elmar 35-70 F4 lens and the Leica R to M adapter.
