2019-11-11 THE CUBE IN AMSTERDAM

After I finished my photo tour in the Van Gogh Museum, I saw that cube only a few meters away. Reflections are usually a signal for photographers, be they lakes, puddles, or rivers. Also, in this case, I used the cube for the mirroring photo-technically.

2019-11-08 VAN GOGH MUSEUM IN AMSTERDAM

The Van Gogh museum is an architectural marvel. Some parts of the Van Gogh exhibition are turned into a multimedia experience with an in-depth analysis of the painter’s style mapped to illuminated parts of his pictures. Details of this building, like the stairway with the lights in the background, represent an exciting picture.

2019-11-01 BRIDGES IN AMSTERDAM

What do you love most in Amsterdam? The bridges and canals are in the top five of nearly every visitor, I think. They are so unique and in the best harmony with the houses and the bikers. It’s a good idea to switch back a few gears when you are approaching the bridge; otherwise, you can fast be stuck on your bike, if it’s too heavy with pedaling.

2019-09-06 VAN GOGH MUSEUM GLASS FLOWERS

A good idea from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to extend the exhibition hall to artfully decorated experience rooms, where you can see motives of the painter’s pictures rebuilt in glass and multimedia experiences. I like these new concepts to connect tech and haptic art with old paintings. It lifts the museum visit on a new level, more exciting, and a new opportunity for photographers. For this photo I attached a Leica Elmarit 28mm 2.8 lens via Novoflex adapter on a Sony A7R 2.

2019-08-29 WALKING HOME IN AMSTERDAM

After visiting the market halls the way home to the hotel was already in the dark, lit with light bulbs. Interestingly, nearly no house in Amsterdam has a facade; you can see the thousands of bricks which make up the walls. One of the many things which I like about this city.

2019-08-14 BIKER IN AMSTERDAM

After a heavy rain shower, my wife Karin and I were out to search after a Pizzeria, which we found with Google. I often look at the reviews to get an idea if it is the restaurant I like. But you cannot always trust 4star+ reviews, better to try to read behind the lines. However, I used the walk to shoot some photos of the city streets.

2017-10-08  HOUSES IN AMSTERDAM

Port of Amsterdam

In the port of Amsterdam
There’s a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of Amsterdam
There’s a sailor who sleeps
While the river bank weeps
To the old willow tree

Why are the houses in Amsterdam so narrow? And relatively high? Those are tax reasons, in former time the residents had to pay taxes on the ground before the house, the smaller the field, the fewer taxes were to pay. 🙂

2017-02-25 DUTCH PIRATE SHIP

In Amsterdam you should try to get a bike very soon. This city is built for cycling, and for exploring the streets, canals, sights – there is no better way. And suddenly you will get some unexpected impressions, like here,  looking at a pirate ship  🙂

2017-01-03 SHOPPING IN AMSTERDAM

This is one of the shopping centers in Amsterdam with historic background. You can see the nice arcs and stony facades which brings you a special experience going over those gangways and steps.

2016-11-21 CACTUSES AND FLOWERS IN AMSTERDAM

On my todo list in Amsterdam was visiting a flower market. I could see thousands of flower bulbs, flower seeds and young seedlings. Some plants looked so cool, that I wanted take them home, too bad, that I live more von 1000 miles away. But nevertheless, walking around was great and I could bring home some new impressions. By the way, I never saw such colorful cactuses before.
