2020-08-17 RUNNING ON HOT STREETS

The cities are tough in the summer heat. But with commitment and willingness to exercise, you can defy even the hottest weather.

2020-08-14 THE DAM AT THE DANUBE

The protective dam was built in the floodplains along the Danube after the flood of the century. It stretches for tens of kilometers and has also been developed as a cycle path. A combination of the useful with the sporty.

2020-08-08 DACHSTEIN IN THE MORNING

For visiting the Dachstein glacier, it is necessary to reserve the tickets for the cable car. Since the bookings were almost full for the whole day, we were able to get a ride at 8 a.m. Therefore we could still see the remains of the sunrise at 3000 meters.

2020-08-02 A MOUNTAIN CALLED RAX

One of the nearest mountains to Vienna is the Rax. Though it doesn’t belong to the high alpine mountain chains, it is always suitable for some fresh air and a longer walk between mountain pines and firs. I don’t know if it is even attractive for climbers, but it has some very steep slopes—all in all, good for a nice one day trip to remember.

2020-07-03 MY WIFE ON THE BIKE

After the Czech border visit, we were on the way to my brother’s wife’s house. The wheat fields continued in Austria. For this photo, I could catch a storehouse for the wheat after harvesting. That’s typical for the rural areas in Lower Austria.

2020-06-11 TREE IN THE DANUBE FLOODPLAINS

While I was walking with my brother in the Danube Floodplains, I was searching for some photo opportunities. The landscape there is flat and green with grass and bushes, that’s it. But in this clearing, I found my picture of the day. A majestic tree is always good for a photo.

2020-06-06 THE MYSTERY GARDEN AROUND THE CASTLE

I saw that garden around the Eckartsau Castle, which got a mystery touch with the Leica M240 jpg-setting for “strong color film.” With this style, the garden can be used for scary movies where a group of teenagers explore an old castle and get into trouble during their excursion. Or a Hitchcock thriller where the showdown ends in a castle.

2020-05-29 THE DOOR OF THE CASTLE

I revisited the wedding castle of my brother Christian, together with his wife. Such old buildings often bring unique opportunities for photos. When I saw the entrance with the incoming sunlight, it was immediately apparent what the picture of the day would be. I waited until some action occurred. The Eckartsau castle was the hunting lodge of the Austrian heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand.

2020-05-14  SUNSET AT THE WÖRTHER SEE

The lake I love most is the Wörther See in Austria. Surrounded by green mountains with crystal clear water it’s a joy to jump into and swim. As you can see, also the sunsets are wonderful. Therefore in the evening, it’s time for a photography session.

2020-04-30  THE FLAT LAND

Burgenland is the flattest state in Austria. Peaty soils and a Pannonian climate characterize the area around Lake Neusiedl. A quiet landscape without dramatic mountains, waterfalls, and exotic plants, which is reduced to a few colors and restrained accents.
