2019-10-28 WE WANT TO REACH THE GOAL

When hiking, it is very helpful to note the signs. A detour can extend over several kilometers, and then the return journey could be very tedious. Especially if you are already in the dark. I’ve already experienced myself and have just made it to the valley.

2019-10-10 MY DAUGHTER IN A CASTLE

On Sunday we were invited to a classical concert in Eckartsau Castle. My mother-in-law is a singer in a choir, and her conductor organized the event. I took the opportunity to shoot several photos of my daughter in the corridors of the castle. And again, an excellent opportunity to use my Leica M240.

2019-09-29 UP ON THE MOUNTAINS

The last meters up, the way was surrounded by traipses, my daughter Cara was fit anyway, she likes spinning and going to the gym. A mountain walk is not that challenge for her. This plateau on the Rax was relatively easy to handle. Interesting to see some little snowfields on 2000 meters, though it was mid-summer.

2019-09-22 MOUNTAIN HUT ON THE RAX

After a long march on the mountain plateau, we look forward to stopping in the mountain hut. There were hearty meals such as ploughman’s lunch and roast pork. For dessert we ordered a Germknödel, this is a fluffy yeast duff dumpling. A classic meal in the Austrian mountains.

2019-08-30 FIELDS BEFORE THE HARVEST

I was happy to have another opportunity to unpack my drone and fly. I was with my wife Karin in the Waldviertel, an area that lives from agriculture and forestry. I was able to shoot a typical picture, with farmyards nestled between cornfields.

2019-08-16 POPPY FIELD IN THE WALDVIERTEL

The Waldviertel, a region in Lower Austria, is renowned for its beautiful poppy fields. Poppyseed strudel, poppy tents, and poppy noodles are the specialties you get there. Neat villages are located between the fields. As it is only an hour’s drive from Vienna, I will visit the area more often now.

2019-08-10 MY DAUGHTER ON THE MOUNTAINS

My daughter Cara and I visited my father at a therapy center, where he recovered from his knee surgery. We took the cable car to the Rax and hiked there all afternoon on the plateau at 2000 meters. Good mountain air and pure nature at this altitude, a great experience to be on a mountain again.

2019-08-04 WROUGHT IRON ART IN CASTLE SCHLOSSHOF

The castle served as a summer residence and hunting lodge for the great commander Prince Eugene of Savoy. It underwent a complete renovation, and many forgotten works of art came to light — a pleasant Sunday trip only 30 kilometers from Vienna.

2019-07-23 APRICOT HARVEST SELF SERVICE

At the weekend we made a trip to the Wachau. The area is famous for its delicious apricots. Now is just harvest time, and on many trees still, hang the ripe fruit. Eating fresh fruits directly from the tree is a particularly rich experience of nature.

2019-07-16 VILLAGE CHURCHES IN AUSTRIA

I am always surprised by what great interior decoration you can find in village churches. Often the villages have only a few thousand inhabitants. But have magnificent churches meticulously maintained with organs, ornaments, and golden structures. I think I shot this photo of a church, which is in a place in the World Heritage Wachau in Austria.
