2019-05-17 THE STREETS OF BARCELONA

The warm climate and the sheer speed are the reasons why so many motor-scooters are on the move on the streets of Barcelona. It’s easy to maneuver around the waiting cars and get at the pole positions at the stop lines before the traffic lights. Spain and Italy are the classic countries with more motorcycles and scooters on the street than cars.

2019-05-07 THE GREAT SUN IN BARCELONA

My colleagues were already gone; nobody had the patience to stay with me, the photo-shooter. For me, it was perfect, no hurry to catch the sunset in Barcelona. I took the 2-mile trail to the hotel and had dozens of photos in my cam. Barcelona is fantastic for photographers who like streets, modern architecture and design. So I used every free minute after the congress, to take photos. Even in the night, I was out with my tripod for a photo tour.

2019-03-12 STREETS OF BARCELONA

From my four days Barcelona-business-trip I reserved an evening and the following night for photo tours. No other of my colleagues were interested, so I was a lone ranger. Thy preferred to hang around with beer and wine, though I had that sociality for two nights anyway. I experienced a bridge with a good view of the streets below. There I placed my tripod and was ready to form some “light-painting” shots from the headlights of the driving cars.

2018-10-24   THE WAY HOME TO THE HOTEL

From the “Cisco Live” conference we chose the foot walk back to the hotel. That was fully in my interest because I could take some photos of the great architecture of Barcelona, while my colleagues were talking about the upcoming evening activities. Currently, I am thinking of attending “Cisco Live” again; it’s only three months until the event starts. And a good time to take some evening photos of the city.  🙂

2018-09-22   MOON OVER BARCELONA

Suddenly it was middle in the night during my photo tour, and surprisingly, I saw the full moon. At this time I was at the “Placa de les Cascades” and shooting in all cardinal directions with my tripod. In the direction where the moon was visible, there was that parkway on the bottom and some skyscrapers in the middle of the photo. The sky was completely blue, without a cloud, it made room for the moon to shine.

2018-09-10   AFTER DINNER IN BARCELONA

After dinner my colleagues were going into their hotel rooms, it was already 11 pm. I added 1 hour for a photo tour, I was lucky, the hotel was near the Placa de Espana. Armed with my Sony A7R II and a mini tripod I got ready for some night shots. Looking after staircases with concrete sockets was my first agenda, then I tried to get the right composition and prepared the camera settings for long-term exposure.

2018-08-26   BARCELONA FROM PLACA DE LES CASCADES

The walking tour upstairs to the Placa de les Cascades was only about 20 minutes from my hotel. Since I was there in January, the waterfalls over the big stairs were off. They are open only during spring until fall. However, I got a great view over the city and started to shoot some photos with my tripod in all directions. Even in January, there are nice temperatures, and I extended my photo walk until late at night.

2018-08-11   THE EVERLASTING CHURCH

After a building time for more than hundred years, and a prolonged end in the year 2026, the Sagrada Familia is one of the world wonders. With its unique architectural style from Antoni Gaudi, it impresses spectators from the whole world. I used a 3-hour spare time from a congress to visit the interiors. It wasn’t easy to decide, what to photograph first. So I started with my entry point and made a step by step tour, where I made panoramas, wide angle, low light, root top-photos from all kind of angels I could imagine.

2018-04-26   NIGHTLY STREET IN BARCELONA

For this photo, I used my mini-tripod at street-level to shoot that nightly street, which leads to the Placa de les Cascades. I had dinner already, my colleagues were on the way to the hotel, I took the way to the Placa Espana.  It was already 11 pm, traffic was low and the streets deserted. The photo session could begin.

2018-04-11   WALKING OUT OF THE TAPAS RESTAURANT

I had an invitation for a tapas late-lunch in Barcelona. The restaurant was in a side street of the La Rambla so that I couldn’t find it immediately. I consulted Google Maps and followed the instructions. It was a diverse tapas menu, with many small bowls where you could discover spicy sausages, fried calamari, pickles, fries with cheese and smoked beef in Spanish sauce. During a walk through the restaurant, which was a parking garage before :-), I shot a photo of the snack bar.
