2017-12-17   GLOWING SUN IN CALIFORNIA

I could name this photo “Power of the sun.” The horizon tinted in a red and yellow glow, the sun was breaking through all cloud layers. A nature spectacle. 😎

I was so happy, that we made enough brakes on the California State Route 1 to San Francisco. Though I hadn’t the time to place a tripod, I did my best with handheld shots. The other teammates were no photographers, “only” smartphone shooters, which is way faster, then a composition and iso-aperture settings photographer. 🙂

2017-07-11  NORTHERN COAST OF CALIFORNIA

After we had left that cool Californian restaurant where we ate a lobster sandwich and experienced a beautiful sea view we continued our way to San Francisco. The more often I glanced out of the window, the more I knew we had to stop soon and take some shots of the sinking sun and the sea. I urged our driver to stop; then we saw a greater parking lot, we jumped out and started to shoot. I was the only “real” photographer, all other colleagues had only their phones with them, though you can also make great photos with smartphones. 🙂

2017-07-02  THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO

When I was a kid, I used to watch the TV-Series “The Streets of San Francisco” with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas. Walking through San Francisco 2 weeks ago was a bit of a reminder of that series. Taking shots with my Samyang 14mm wide angle lens was fun, and I think it’s great to use it in cities because you can catch such broad sceneries on the photos.

2016-07-31 THE GRACES OF HEARST CASTLE

The only way to go to Hearst Castle is by a visitors bus which brings you via serpentines to that amazing castle. From arrival time until leave it’s a never ending photo journey. Statues, in door and out door pools with impressing mosaic tiles, pillars, ornamented windows, a botanical garden …

2016-05-31 THE GOLDEN DOOR

This door reminds me of a secret door in a role playing game, where you have to search for a key or code to open it and get the entrance to the next level. You can find it at the Hearst Castle in California.
