2018-02-20   SHEIKH ZAYED MOSQUE IN THE EVENING

I think I stayed in this mosque from later afternoon until night. It is one of the buildings I will ever remember. With the beginning of the evening, I tried to capture the light, shining from the arches. The lightning is part of the architecture and harmonized with the colors and structure of the building.

2018-02-14   OUTLOOK TO THE SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD

On the 26th floor of the Jumeirah Towers Hotel, you get that great outlook to the 8-lane Sheikh Zayed Road. It’s an auto lovers dream, an extravaganza of a super-highway. Since I had a rental car, it was a pleasure to drive on this road and looking at the buildings of Dubai.

2018-02-01   ABU DHABI FERRARI WORLD GREAT CONSTRUCTION WORK

Great engineering teams and building firms have built Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. The construction work is impressing. Everything works well made, fastidious and exact ceilings in a significant dimension. Alone the pile is worth a visit, besides of this you get the fastest roller coaster in the world, named Formula Rossa. The ride is like from another planet. At the start, you get eye-glasses for protection, and the drive feels like you get catapulted into a new dimension.

2018-01-20   SHEIKH ZAYED MOSQUE AT DUSK

I would line up that mosque under the Wonders of the World. Such an impressive, spacious building with its surroundings is a must see in Abu Dhabi. After leaving your shoes a the entrance, you are free to walk around and explore the pillars, roofs, and domes. If you are there before dusk, you can watch the illumination of an impressive, complete artwork.

2018-01-02   A NEW MAD MAX MOVIE ?

First I thought I had taken the wrong exit. We landed between the film crew of a new Mad Max – movie. The barren post-apocalyptic landscape presented itself like in Mad Max: Fury Road. But these war rigs and monster trucks are food trucks of “Last Exit” motorway service station between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. 🙂  You can order a coke and some nachos and make a well-deserved break from your journey.

2017-12-15   LOBBY OF THE JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL IN DUBAI

Though we didn’t stay in that hotel, my wife Karin and I were allowed to use the beach. At 45° C (113 F) it was hot weather. 🙂  You were unable to walk on the sand without sandals. The sea water was like a warm bath. After two hours we left the beach and ran for cover at the pool bar. There was happy hour. We got a cold Stella beer for the half prize and a big bowl of wasabi nuts.

2017-12-09  SINKING SUN IN ABU DHABI

This photo was shot outside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Often the sinking sun is a photographer’s best friend. I had a right timing with the visit. We arrived between blue hour and evening. My wife Karin and my daughter had to put on a scarf and a veil, which they got at the entrance. Then we were free to explore and to marvel.

2017-12-02  ILLUMINATED BRIDGE IN DUBAI

It was a nightmare driving around and searching for the correct highway exit to get to the Dubai Canal. We didn’t stop trying, and at the end, we got rewarded with a boardwalk, a park area, and a futuristic bridge. Particularly in the night, you get a beautiful view of the skyline. Even in the evening, it was sweltering, and I was sweating after I reached the bridge.

2017-11-21  INSIDE SHEIKH ZAYED MOSQUE

The experience was breathtaking, visiting Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi. It’s a one-of-a-kind building with gigantic dimensions. Colored mainly in white and golden, with thousands of artfully crafted details and ornaments. I have never seen lightning like this, made of colored glass, crystals, and brass. You are entirely free to take photos. A must visit in the United Arab Emirates.

2017-10-12  ARC DE TRIOMPHE IN DUBAI

From my hotel room, I had that great view to the “Arc de Triomphe.” I placed my tripod in the room, turned off all lights to prevent mirroring and then shot through the glass window. On the next day, I discovered the building, and there I saw that it was an office building with windows and space on the inner surface.  🙂  One more of the versatile constructions in Dubai.
