2019-07-30 SCULPTOR IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE II

The second photo from the sculptor-series, where the head is formed from clay and the wet hands of the artist. Fascinating to see, that shapeless material changes to sculptures.

2019-07-27 SCULPTOR IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE

During a big bike tour with the urban e-bikes, we spotted a large group of spectators in a busy square. Our interest aroused, we also wanted to see what to admire. A group of sculptors made an elaborate face of blocks of stone, with hammer and chisel. Also, an artist sculpted a portrait of a present lady from a rock in real-time — an excellent performance.

2019-07-25 AUGMENTED REALITY IN AVIGNON

When I visited the Pope’s Palace in Avignon, the tour guide was a tablet with headphones. There the route of the sightseeing tour was available. During the stay in the rooms and halls, suddenly the display changed and showed the life and bustle of the former knight time. There was a banquet in the dining room and a wedding in the ceremonial hall — augmented reality at its best. At the same time, a computer game was also integrated into the tablet — the top-of-the-notch multimedia experience.

2019-07-24 CITY OF TOULOUSE

Narrow, winding streets and cafes on the roadside bring the French culture to life. Drinking a glass of wine, shooting photos, and walking with my wife Karin was my daily nightly schedule in Toulouse.

2019-07-09 A CATHEDRAL IN TOULOUSE

We lived on the pedestrian street and saw the cathedral above the rooftops in Toulouse. First, we had to overcome a construction site to get inside. The massive porticoes let me reach for my camera in amazement. I was reminded of the Tolkien films Lord of the Rings when I saw the columns and roofs.

2019-07-07 HOME OF THE MACHINES

This hall is home to the Les Machines de l’île in Nantes. There is an exhibition area with screenings and a balcony with a 360 ° view. From an observation deck, one can observe the emergence of new machines, which are handmade with plans, wood and metal constructions and electric motors.

2019-05-12 ROMAN EMPIRE AQUEDUCT PONT DU GARD

It paid off that we took the extra mile to Pont du Gard in Southern France. This aqueduct was one of the highlights of the trip to France. It so happened that I was standing in front of it for the Golden Hour. The sunlight reflected in the arches with a golden glow. I wondered if the architects had planned it that way?

2019-05-03 KIOSK IN AVIGNON

In the city bypass in Avignon, you drive next to the historic city wall and discover some unique buildings of yesteryear. These scenes always remind me of French crime novels that I liked to see in my youth.

2019-04-29 THE CHURCH IN NANTES

The public rental bikes in Nantes have a basket in front of the handlebar, perfect for putting in the photo bag. By bike, we drove around in the old town and stopped in front of the interesting sights to take pictures. And the price of a bicycle for 24 hours was only € 1. The easier way for a photo tour compared to the miles of marches on foot.

2019-04-21 MAIN ENTRY TO THE OLD TOWN OF AVIGNON

The first time I was in Avignon, I was 19 years old. I made a road trip with friends from Vienna to Spain, at Avignon we made a stopover. This city has fascinated me to this day, so I visited Avignon last year with my wife, Karin. From a round-trip bus, I was able to shoot several photos of the city wall and the main entrance.
