2019-04-02 ON THE ROOF OF MILAN CATHEDRAL

The walking tour I will never forget is on the roof of Milan Cathedral. You are so near to the architecture; you can grab the stones and concrete structures. I admire more and more the architects and workers who have built that marvel. You can plan at least 2 hours, don’t think twice, when you are in Milan, attend this tour. You have to pay a bit extra for the tickets, I was unsure first, but then glad that I did it. The same is true for my wife Karin, and my brother and sister in law.

2019-02-20  GALLERIA VITTORIO EMANUELE II

The hot spot of Milano is beneath the Piazza del Duomo. At the entrance lies the Campari bar. That’s a good starting point, to drink a Campari Soda with ice and then take the tour. To avoid too many people I shot that “high-floor” photo with the middle layer of the building and above. One of the over-photographed buildings on the web, so it’s a good idea to search after new compositions.

2019-02-09   VIEW OVER MILAN

From where to get this great view over Milan? You have to enter the roof exploration tour of the Milan Cathedral. After going up with an elevator,  you walk on narrow paths directly on the roof, seeing the statues and concrete ornaments and pillars near you.

2018-12-29   ON THE ROOF OF MILAN CATHEDRAL

I took the visitors package for Milan Cathedral with the roof exploration and entry in the church via a circular staircase. Walking on the roof is spectacular, so near to the cathedral combined with a great city view. This is the best way to recognize the architectural masterpiece. You can see hundreds of details that can not be seen from the street.

2018-12-11   PIAZZA DEL DUOMO

The most visited place in Milan, very touristic, where to find a photo spot? For me it was this picture, taking photos from people taking photos, a fresh perspective of the Piazza del Duomo. Then I was walking around, searching for the next motives. I found more and more, unusual angles, wide angles, and different foregrounds.

2018-11-04   GOING OUT OF THE RAILWAY STATION IN MILAN

After the 40-minute drive with the airport express train, I entered the railway station Milano Centrale. Sprawling halls with arcs and pillars, the ravages of time are visible, but all in all, an excellent experience for a railway station.

2018-10-22   THE PILLARS OF THE MILAN CATHEDRAL

The big European cathedrals and domes are impressive buildings. Planned with gigantic dimensions, made from huge stones and concrete, show the signs of stability. Built for the millenniums with overwhelming sizes. I was in Milan with my wife and brother- and sister-in-law for one day only, and the most part we spent on the roof and pathways and hall of the Milan Cathedral.

2018-08-22   CANALS OF MILAN

I had some roundtrips to find a parking lot at the Canals of Milan. It is very crowded during the nighttime, and everyone wants a good time at the water with a cool breeze. I could use the car-sharing platform Car2Go in Milan, though my registration city is Vienna. A good thing that you can use the car rentals in all European cities where Car2Go is active. Formerly they offered Smarts only; now you get Mercedes A-class too.

2018-05-31   MILAN COURTYARD

Walking around in Milan and going into the palatial buildings brings you Italian courtyards with statues, pillars, and interesting architecture. Don’t forget your wide-angle lens, a must to capture the scenery.

2017-11-13  ASIAN GIRL IN MILAN

Milan, a diverse city with many Asian tourists and residents. My city-walking-photography tour brought me to small alleyways, narrow streets, and little bars and restaurants. I saw this walking girl by accident. I was ready to shoot at the right time. Luckily, I had my zoom lens with me. Without you often don’t have the time for changing lenses or bodies, for street photography, I prefer zooms.
