2021-02-06 BAR IN SAN FRANCISCO

The rooftop bar in the Hilton San Francisco brings you a 360-degree view of the city. With the inconspicuous Sony RX1R, I was able to walk around and take a few photos. The bar stands out with the cool lighting that bathes the window frames in purple. Then we had a cocktail and salty Japanese nuts to round off the day.

2020-10-06 BRIDGE IN AUSTIN

In the photo, you can see the famous Bat Bridge in Austin. Allegedly millions of bats live under the bridge and start their night flight together at a specific time. This spectacle was, unfortunately, denied us. Nevertheless, I was able to immortalize some photos of the area.

2020-07-18 FIRST TIME AMERICAN FOOTBALL

It was in Houston, Texas, where I saw my first time American Football game. While I tried to understand the rules of the game, I used the moments of excitement to take photos. A great experience in a great stadium, the shows, and games are always worth visiting. The area outside is like a big party, with a barbecue, beer and a good time. I liked the drummer boys, which made a good mood.

2020-03-17  SAN FRANCISCO FROM VW BUS

I was quite excited when we made the San Francisco tour with a Volkswagen Bus, named “Bullie.” It was from the seventies, fully restored. When sitting in the front row, I used the opportunity to shoot some photos directly through the window.

2020-03-09  MUSEUM IN SAN FRANCISCO

In museums, I prefer to shoot the premises more than exponents. They have their unique style, which you only see in public areas. If some exhibited animals complete the picture, all the better. Mostly I use wide-angle lenses; they bring the dimensions better to show off.

2020-03-05  THE MULTIFACETED SKYLINE OF CHICAGO

I can recommend taking the boat tour on the Chicago River. Then use shutter priority with 1/800 and upwards to avoid blur from the shaking boat and handheld shots. You will end with decent shots of this spectacular skyline. With some luck, you will get a woodpecker on the photo. 🙂

2020-02-17  UNDER THE BAT BRIDGE

We were waiting and waiting, but this day they didn’t come out. Even two tourist boats illuminated the bows with red headlights. Only very few of the tired bats were flying, short of the millions, which was mentioned on some websites. However, I could use the waiting time with a photo session of the surrounding.

2020-01-15  PHOTOS FROM THE STRIP

Some time to take pictures was always a nice end to the day in Las Vegas. I liked being on the pedestrian bridges where I could get a good overview of what was happening on the strip. I also caught the time of sunset, which made the pictures more atmospheric.

2019-11-30  FLAMINGO HILTON LAS VEGAS

I used my spare time between the business meetings for short photo tours. Beneath the Linq hotel, where I had my room, lies the Flamingo Hilton. The pink reflective facade with the palm trees gives a typical Las Vegas feeling. In the leisure area, they had a wedding chapel and at a little pond some real flamingos.

2019-11-27  THE STREETS OF CHICAGO

We found the 5-start recommended breakfast restaurant in a South-Western part of Chicago. After one hour drive, we were quite disappointed. The breakfast was far away from outstanding, as written in the recommendations. I am mostly satisfied with an omelet if the size is right (big 🙂 ), but with my wife Karin, it is more complicated 🙂 . I used the area for walking around and taking some photos of the streets.
