2018-07-13   TREES IN SAN FRANCISO

This walking path is near the coast, west of the Golden Gate Bridge. I liked the trees with the jagged treetops; they gave a wild-romantic flair. We walked for about an hour on that pathway, where we got some spectacular views of the sea and the hills and landscape in the direction of Sausalito.

2018-06-07   CHINATOWN IN THE MORNING

I used the opportunity to visit Chinatown in San Francisco in the morning. The departure to the airport was two hours away, so I could use the spare time to explore and shoot photos. Since my photo equipment was already packed, I used my Google Pixel 2 XL for shooting and Snapseed for post-processing, an option I can recommend for lightweight walking and taking photos on the fly.

2018-05-20   ONE WEEK BREAK FOR SAN FRANCISCO

Since I am on the way to San Francisco, I post a photo of my last year’s visit. I will give this photo blog a one week break, because of my busy schedule. In the meantime, I will continue to post on Instagram; please search after heyyou_photo

2018-02-23   SAN FRANCISCO FROM THE TWIN PEAKS

Here I was standing on the Twin Peaks observation deck above San Francisco. The name Twin Peaks has nothing to do with the TV series of David Lynch, those are two hills with height at about 275 m (925 ft) which gives a great view of the city and the surrounding areas like the harbor and the sea. I was lucky, no fog, clear and blue sky, I used that perfect weather conditions for some nice city view shots.  🙂

2018-02-11   SERENADING IN SAN FRANCISCO

Walking along the pier in San Francisco I saw that little band bringing a melody to the spectators. It was some modern soul and blues with that quintet of singing ladies.

2018-01-13   RAINFOREST IN SAN FRANCISCO

In the California Institute of Science, they have rebuilt a rain forest in a big glass dome. You get the humility, the temperature, the vegetation and even the butterflies. There are four levels to explore, a great attraction and an educational tour also. I was there with my friend and colleague Herbert, which was a medium for the butterflies, which took place on his back and head.  🙂

2018-01-11   BREAKFAST IN AMERICA

The photo reminds me of that great song “Breakfast in America” from Supertramp. I shot this in a deli in San Francisco. Bar, tables, chairs and the menu – a typical breakfast bar. The waitress comes with iced water which gets poured into a glass with ice cubes. 80% of all dishes are made with eggs. 🙂  And a digital jukebox on some tables.

2017-12-26   THE WILD LANDSCAPE OF PINNACLE NATIONAL PARK

After a two-hour walk uphill under 40° C (100 F), we arrived at the peak of the Pinnacle National Park. The path was full of stones and debris, I had new Timberland shoes on, which were wholly grey and dusty after a short time. But I can recommend the high quality of these boots, after cleaning they looked like new, despite these conditions.
At the peak, I took that pano-shot with four pictures. I tried to hold the camera steady and recalculated the overlapping areas. In post-processing, I merged the photos to a pano in photoshop, worked very well. The landscape appears rough and wild and reminds me of Western movies with Clint Eastwood.  🙂

2017-12-21   ENTRANCE OF THE ST. FRANCIS

I had an invitation on the 30th floor of the St. Francis in San Francisco. Some colleagues and I were on the way to the hotel. After entering the lobby, I took some shots. I like those big hotels with the massive pillars and the big, soft carpets. On the 30th floor, there was a bigger room, where you got a great view of the city. The windows reached from the floor to the roof.

2017-12-01  MUSEUM HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO

On the photo is another realm in the California Institute of Science. After exploring a rainforest-tower, a science roof, and a fascinating aquarium, we landed in that natural history hall. I was happy to have my wide-angle lens with me, the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 AF. You never should miss one. Otherwise, you would not be able to catch such scenes. It represents the hall as it looked from my point of view. That’s one of the reasons, why I shoot photos, showing magnificent surroundings. 😎
