2019-02-14  THE MEMORABLE MONUMENT

I was so impressed with the monument that I post the comment of Mark Twain, which says it all:

Around about are green trees and grass. The place is a sheltered, reposeful woodland nook, remote from noise and stir and confusion—and all this is fitting, for lions do die in such places, and not on granite pedestals in public squares fenced with fancy iron railings. The Lion of Lucerne would be impressive anywhere, but nowhere so impressive as where he is.

— Mark Twain, A Tramp Abroad, 1880

2019-02-13  HONG KONG NIGHT TOUR

The city of Hong Kong is a mixture of a high-tech extravaganza, modern infrastructure, and traditional Chinese shops and restaurants. Everyone can discover exciting places for themselves. I decided to take photos from different perspectives but wanted to preserve the Hong Kong touch.

2019-02-12  SHOP WINDOW IN VENICE

The great thing about Venice is the many details you see as you stroll through the streets. Window panes, house entrances or small bridges, photo-motives where the eye reaches. Here on the photo typical Venice style, masks, wrought iron, and colorful Italian glass.

2019-02-11  BRIDGE ON THE GLACIER

In the high mountains, the trend is towards spectacular viewing platforms and floating bridges. At the Dachstein, at 2995 meters there is the Suspension Bridge. It is perfectly safe to walk over, but people who are afraid of heights should not look down.

2019-02-10   ICE SKATING IN FRONT OF THE BURGTHEATER

At my photography tour in the ice skating arena near the town hall in Vienna, I tried different lenses. I made the photo with a wide-angle 14mm 2.8 lens from Samyang. The lens is a native E-mount lens, so no need for an adapter. For cities and places, wide-angle shots often bring the perfect symbioses between centered motives and surroundings. Therefore they fulfill the complete showing of all subjects you wanted to catch with the image.

2019-02-09   VIEW OVER MILAN

From where to get this great view over Milan? You have to enter the roof exploration tour of the Milan Cathedral. After going up with an elevator,  you walk on narrow paths directly on the roof, seeing the statues and concrete ornaments and pillars near you.

2019-02-08   VIENNA FROM THE DANUBE TOWER

The picture shows Vienna from the Danube Tower. You can see the “New Danube,” the original Danube, the Millenium Tower, the Brigittenauer Bridge and on the right side the Kahlenberg. The observation deck has a height of about 160 meters, a good starting point for aerial shots. And the only possibility, because flying with drones is strictly prohibited over the city.

2019-02-07   DANCING ON THE STREETS

In Bordeaux are dancing parties on the street. People come together and hop unexpectedly. It’s contagious for many passengers and so more and more attend the dancing. Also, my wife was excited, but since I am a lousy dancer, I was too shy to attend. However, it was the right time for night shots of this likable scenes.

2019-02-06   THE CASTLE OVER EDINBURGH

It was home of the knights; big history has been made, it is the home of the crown jewels, home of inspirations for movies, a tourist hot spot, gets great illumination during the night, a must see when visiting Edinburgh, that’s all is Edinburgh Castle. Impressive the hard work, which was put in, to bring these rocks and bricks up to the hill and build that massive buildings complex.
