2018-10-08   ALLEY IN SAINT TROPEZ

In Europe the city Saint Tropez got its famous name from the actors Brigitte Bardot and Louis de Funes, nowadays these names are more or less forgotten. On my Tour de France, I gave the city a try. There is a walking promenade with many yachts and high prices. It’s ok for a 1 to 2-day trip. I can recommend an Indian restaurant named “Gandhi”, excellent food and courteous service.

2018-10-07   SUNSET AT THE LAKE

With only 3,5 hours driving time to Carinthia from my hometown Vienna, I get many photo opportunities at the region of the Wörther See. Lovely villages and smooth hills surround the lake. You can catch moody photos with the unique atmosphere of lake, hills, and sunset with some people left on the beach drinking their last glass of Prosecco.

2018-10-06   CASTLE AND KNIGHTS IN SCOTLAND

My memory is so bad; I remember entering that knight’s hall, but I’m not sure where it was. Scotland is full of castles, built with heavy stones, inside they give you back the reminiscences of medieval times. Maybe it was Edinburgh Castle, which should be on top of your list. I was there half a day, exploring and photo-shooting.

2018-10-05   MALTA FROM MY HOTEL ROOM

From time to time I get a hotel room with a beautiful view of the city Sliema in Malta, which is worth taking a photo. In this case, I stayed in the “The Palace” hotel. With a room on the 6th floor and the right direction I took my camera out and did some shots of the buildings in the dusk.

2018-10-03   INSIDE MARINA BAY SANDS

That’s THE photo hotspot in Singapore, Marina Bay Sands, and the surroundings. The magnificent hotel for shooting inside and outside, a bridge to catch Singapore streets and skyline, the rooftop bar,  the vista point for the Gardens by the Bay and nearby shopping centers with rivers and big rounded roofs inside. I recommend to plan an afternoon and the evening in this area and be at the right time at the lightning orchestra of the Gardens.

2018-10-02   WARM SUNLIGHT OVER THE MOUNTAINS

The Pyramidenkogel is an observation tower in Carinthia with views over mountains, lakes, and sight to Slovenia. The typical landscape has mixed forests on hills which surrounds lakes; embedded are neat villages with bathing jetties. In the broader horizon higher mountain chains are visible, the begin of the Alps. At sunset, you get warm light from the sinking sun behind the mountains.

2018-09-30   PIAZZA SAN MARCO IN THE NIGHT

This photo happened in January, my favorite time in Venice. Fewer tourists, moderate cold weather, great for walking around and shooting. Even the Piazza San Marco gets less crowded sooner, and it’s more comfortable taking the pictures you want, without waiting time for getting unwanted people out of the scenery.

2018-09-29   THE WINE TERRACES OF THE WACHAU

The Wachau, an area in Lower Austria, has an exceptional landscape. The river Danube, some fields for corn and wheat and wine terraces where fine white wine is ripening. Some smooth hills surround villages and give an opportunity for hiking tours where you can visit old ruins and castles. Wine taverns offer bread with liver paste, sheep-cheese and first class wine like Riesling Smaragd (Emerald). I tried and can wholeheartedly recommend it. 🙂

2018-09-28   AIX-EN-PROVENCE CENTRE VILLE

On Saturday a very crowded city, it lies in the heart of the Provence. Aix-en-Provence is the home of the great painter Paul Cezanne. The buildings and places represent a style, which is perfect for artists and writers. Also, photographers will find their motifs to bring French feeling to live.

2018-09-26   SINKING SUN OVER PRAGUE

What are the photography hot spots of the world? If you have a look at Instagram, Flickr or the diverse photo blogs I think to the top ten belong: Island, Rome, Japan(Tokyo), Dubai … and Prague. I am lucky, I live in Vienna, only 3 hours away from Prague. Both cities have their similarities in architecture, buildings, old alleys and an old town. Both offer enough for a two to three days photo journey.
