2019-10-04 GLASS FACADE MIRRORS IN CHICAGO

Chicago is the city where the aunt of my wife Karin lived. The family relocated to Baton Rouge and Cleveland then. Karin and I took the boat tour on the Chicago River, where I positioned myself to catch the best photos of the skyline. Don’t forget to set the high shutter speed, crucial when driving on a shaky boat. The tour guide was very entertaining, a joy to look at him when telling his stories. A tour to recommend, enjoyable, and great for shooting pictures.

2019-10-03 VENICE WITH ITS NARROW STREETS

Venice offers a new surprise to every corner. We were on Google Maps and let us show the way back to the hotel. Often we got into narrow streets, with bars, hotels and old, morbid masonry — a city built for eternity. For the shooting I used my Sony A7S where I used ISO 10,000. No problem at all for this high-ISO wunder-camera.

2019-10-02 THE WHITE DUCKS

It was some years ago that I visited with my wife Karin an art exhibition in Milan. One of my photos was about the white ducks and the farm animals. With art, the opinions often differ sharply, but this beautiful herd won the hearts of all spectators.

2019-10-01 SHOP IN HONG KONG

Buying some street food, drinking coconut-water, taking home some dried mushrooms, the little shops in Hong Kong provide all kinds of delights. I was walking miles over miles per day, only to shoot photos of the streets of Hong Kong.

2019-09-30 SAN DIEGO INTERCONTINENTAL

My wife was working in her early twenties at the Hotel Intercontinental Vienna. Therefore, there is an emotional connection to this hotel chain. We give it a try and stayed two nights in Intercontinental San Diego, a top hotel, a 5-star recommendation from my side. On a trip home, I could catch a night-time photo with the Google Pixel 3 XL smartphone. With the “Night-Sight” modus an easy task, to get decent pictures.

2019-09-29 UP ON THE MOUNTAINS

The last meters up, the way was surrounded by traipses, my daughter Cara was fit anyway, she likes spinning and going to the gym. A mountain walk is not that challenge for her. This plateau on the Rax was relatively easy to handle. Interesting to see some little snowfields on 2000 meters, though it was mid-summer.

2019-09-27 ENTRY OF THE MOSQUE IN ABU DHABI

The first stop in Abu Dhabi was the Sheikh Zayek Grande Mosque. I wanted to capture additional details of this magnificent building in photos. Here I stood in front of one of the beautiful entrance gates wherein the background the buildings in the courtyard merged into a harmonious whole.

2019-09-25 TREE ON BEACH IN LANGKAWI

I’m not the type to lie on the beach for long. That’s why I took the time to shoot photos in Langkawi. The beach is bordered by tropical trees, behind it is rainforest. On the spot lies the Andaman Sea, it spans up to Thailand.

2019-09-24 TOULOUSE CITY HALL

My wife Karin was standing in the line for ice cream. I used the time for photo shooting in Toulouse. I had the city hall in front of me and chose a wide-angle lens to capture the big building. As my wife came back with the ice cream, I had already finished my shootings. It was funny ice; the French icemen made patterns of hearts and flowers of the ice toppings, which made eating it even more enjoyable.

2019-09-23 CACTI IN CALIFORNIA

Better not to touch the spines of this cactus. The field is in the middle of the Joshua Tree National Park and called Colla Cactus Garden; any first aid is far away. I stayed with photographing these unique cacti. There were hundreds of these at that place, but only on that place, while driving around in the park, I never saw these cacti again. The area looks so surreal; I thought to be on a faraway planet, like in a science-fiction movie.
