2019-07-26 BIRDS AT MASADA

At Masada, the only animals I could watch on the height were these lovely birds. For the photo sessions, I had my rather heavy, but excellent Sigma 35mm 1.4 lens with me. Since it is A-mount, I had the LA-EA3 adapter on my Sony A7R II. A great combination.

2019-07-25 AUGMENTED REALITY IN AVIGNON

When I visited the Pope’s Palace in Avignon, the tour guide was a tablet with headphones. There the route of the sightseeing tour was available. During the stay in the rooms and halls, suddenly the display changed and showed the life and bustle of the former knight time. There was a banquet in the dining room and a wedding in the ceremonial hall — augmented reality at its best. At the same time, a computer game was also integrated into the tablet — the top-of-the-notch multimedia experience.

2019-07-24 CITY OF TOULOUSE

Narrow, winding streets and cafes on the roadside bring the French culture to life. Drinking a glass of wine, shooting photos, and walking with my wife Karin was my daily nightly schedule in Toulouse.

2019-07-23 APRICOT HARVEST SELF SERVICE

At the weekend we made a trip to the Wachau. The area is famous for its delicious apricots. Now is just harvest time, and on many trees still, hang the ripe fruit. Eating fresh fruits directly from the tree is a particularly rich experience of nature.

2019-07-22 ELEPHANTS AT THE ENTRY OF BIRLA MANDIR

A very friendly taxi-driver brought me to Birla Mandir temple. I trusted my driver to bring me to the sightseeing hot-spots of New Dheli. At the entrance, we had to remove our shoes. We followed the rules and rules we were given when entering. It was a fascinating temple for a visitor from the Western world.

2019-07-21 CRYSTAL WALK

The impressive art-installation of Andre Heller in the Crystal Worlds of Swarovski in Wattens bring you excitement from room to room, from walkway to walkway. The basic setup consists of Swarovski glass and crystals formed to art sculptures and illuminated with colorful lights. Spherical music creates a particular mood. Be prepared to take a camera with high-iso capabilities with you; don’t leave the exhibition without a vast amount of photos for your portfolio.

2019-07-19 MILAN PIAZZA DEL DUOMO

Even sometimes you can benefit from the tourists on Piazza del Duomo. The place is crowded all the time. With some individual compositions, you can put tourists in a new light like this Asian girl doing smartphone shots of her girlfriend.

2019-07-17 HONG KONG STREET FROM THE BUS

When entering a Red Bus, I always move to the upper deck and try to get a seat on edge. There I can lean forward and stand up for photo shooting. I love to shoot streets, and Hong Kong provides a perfect scenery. The perspective of the bus often gives a slight advantage compared to the ground. The view gets more-dimensional. It’s crucial, having a zoom lens on the camera. There is often the need to vary the focal length.

2019-07-16 VILLAGE CHURCHES IN AUSTRIA

I am always surprised by what great interior decoration you can find in village churches. Often the villages have only a few thousand inhabitants. But have magnificent churches meticulously maintained with organs, ornaments, and golden structures. I think I shot this photo of a church, which is in a place in the World Heritage Wachau in Austria.

2019-07-15 HOTEL CHECK IN SAN DIEGO

I love hotel lobbies and service desks. They are the first point of connection between guest and hotel and at the same time, the command center. The styling and integration into the hotel lobbies generate again and again my interest. Often I am then with my camera or smartphone on the spot, as here at the Intercontinental San Diego.
