2017-02-24 INSIDE THE EXHIBITION GARDEN OF GLASS IN SEATTLE

It was about running the gauntlet with entering this exhibition. The camera in the hotel, iPhone with only 20% battery left, 4 hours before flight departure and the airline ticket on the iPhone in passbook. So I tried to reconcile all things starting with shooting the exhibition but save enough battery for my airline ticket.  🙂 then taking my luggage form the hotel, meeting my colleagues and taking Uber to the airport…

2017-02-23 DANUBE CITY IN THE NIGHT

Sometimes you have to go higher to get the shot you want, as here with the Danube City in the night. I was on the Leopoldsberg a mountain with an older castle which is not open to the public, because it’s a bit too derelict. But there is a great observation deck where you get a view over Vienna and enough place for a tripod  🙂

2017-02-22 TRAIN BRIDGE ON THE SEMMERING

This is a bridge of the famous Ghega mountain railway over the Semmering, which was the first of its kind in the world. Planned by Carl von Ghega and built in 1854 it even exists today and is in full operation. A real highlight between the mountains and the snowy woods.

2017-02-21 GUINNESS BAR IN VENICE

I was a bit surprised to see that beer bar in Venice, they offered Irish Guinness, Belgian Leffe, Dutch Heineken… all draft  🙂  And the best thing, it was near our hotel, so before going back to the room, we turned into this bar for card games and some rounds of beer.

2017-02-20 BACKSTREETS OF SEATTLE

Sometimes I take photos of less attractive buildings, like here of the backstreets in Seattle. For me, industry buildings, loading docks, iron fire ladders and delivery vehicles have a unique flare. And for many workers, it’s daily routine to get there and start the day …

2017-02-19 THE BIG SWISS VALLEY

Near the top of the Gotthard Pass there is an observation deck offering a view to a mountain pass and a big valley. I used the break to shoot some photos before the tour through Switzerland continued where we visited Chur, Ascona, Lucerne, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen

2017-02-18 FOOD COURT IN TORONTO

In the early afternoon, I was starving, I had breakfast at about 9 am, was walking and shooting the whole day, so it was time to look after some food. In downtown Toronto, we found this food court, where I couldn’t resist to take a big portion of sushi.  🙂 … especially more healthy than most of the burgers and pizzas.

2017-02-17 BUILDING FOR CENTURIES

This is the church for the centuries, a stunning architectural marvel, Gaudi’s masterpiece. The start of construction was 1882 and it is not finished yet, the building activity is ongoing, the anticipated completion date is 2026. Sagrada Familia is one of the most impressive buildings I have ever seen.

2017-02-16 GORILLA BOUTIQUE

I liked this boutique with that guy sitting on his place and looking around  🙂  maybe it’s better marketing to bring in such art-accessories to attract more customers …

2017-02-15 NIGHT SKIING

Winter sports in the night get more and more attraction, nearly every ski resort has a lighted piste. Also curling, sledding and ice skating are popular in the late hours. That’s good for photographers, the pistes look pretty cool during the night with the light between the woods and the snow which gets colorful textures. This shot I got by accident, I went out of an apres-ski bar and spotted this mountain with the lighted pistes, since I was far away I took my Sony A6000 and Sony Zeiss FE 55 1.8 which became a 70mm lens with the APS-C camera, that was enough to get a good composition.
