2017-12-01  MUSEUM HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO

On the photo is another realm in the California Institute of Science. After exploring a rainforest-tower, a science roof, and a fascinating aquarium, we landed in that natural history hall. I was happy to have my wide-angle lens with me, the Rokinon 14mm 2.8 AF. You never should miss one. Otherwise, you would not be able to catch such scenes. It represents the hall as it looked from my point of view. That’s one of the reasons, why I shoot photos, showing magnificent surroundings. 😎

2017-11-30  ROMANTIC EVENING

The sinking sun reflecting on the lake, a couple on a jetty in the evening, these are the ingredients for a romantic picture. My wife Karin and I were eating Sushi in Pörtschach at the Wörther See. After ordering the food, I stepped up for a quick photo round. I had my Leica X Vario with me, the perfect camera for an evening walk. Lightweight and capable of an excellent picture quality. The lens design is from renowned Peter Karbe, director of optics development, Leica Camera AG.

2017-11-29  ORIGINAL SCHWEIZERHAUS

The world-renowned Schweizerhaus ingredients: Budweiser Beer, stilt, potato pancakes, waiters who can carry twenty pints of beer, chestnut trees, sunshades, gravelly soil, crowded and a good mood. It’s a seasonal business, only open between March and October. On a hot, sunny day, mostly one beer is not enough.  🙂

2017-11-28  TORONTO WITH THE IPHONE

I was at the Comic-Con, watching Star Wars troopers and Manga-comics. Then there were three hours spare time before I met with my wife again. I used a tourist coupon for a harbor cruise.  Since it was very hectic before I entered the boat, I had only my iPhone with me. My self-proclaimed challenge was shooting photos of the boat trip with my iPhone. From time to time I like it to be restricted to only one tool and try to get the best out of it.  😎

2017-11-27  CASTLE MIRAMARE NEAR TRIESTE

This castle is only a few miles away from Trieste. You can plan a half day for the visit. Exploring the garden area, the exhibition in the castle and the great sea view from the balconies and viewing plateaus. Shooting photos, drinking coffee and have a good time between Mediterranean flora and fauna.

2017-11-26  SAIL AWAY

Ain’t no lions or tigers ain’t no mamba snake
Just the sweet watermelon and the buckwheat cake
Everybody is as happy as a man can be
Climb aboard little wog sail away with me

Sail away sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay
Sail away-sail away
We will cross the mighty ocean into Charleston Bay

“Sail Away”  © song by Randy Newman

On the photo it’s the Chicago Pier with Lake Michigan, Charleston Bay is 1000 miles away. However, except for the high parking fees, 🙂 Chicago pier is a great place to take photos. On one direction great Lake Michigan with sinking sun. On the opposite side the skyline of the city. And the pier itself. If you want to take the City-River tour, it also starts there, highly recommended.

2017-11-25  ENTERING A MARKET IN TOKYO

At my long walking tours through Tokyo I came across that street market. It was roofed with a high diversity of shops. I looked around if I could find some bargains. Then I bought some snacks. With time it became later afternoon, the right time heading to Tokyo Skytree.  😎

2017-11-24  TOP OF THE ALPS NEAR LUCERNE

After climbing up the Pilatus (or using the cable car  🙂 ), you have to overcome this last rock. Then you are at the peak. Overlooking a magnificent panorama and valley with Lake Lucerne. As looking down to a rock plateau, I saw two alphorn blowers. The deep sound fits perfectly into the massif. Great Switzerland!

2017-11-23  GREEK RESTAURANT IN VIENNA

After visiting that Greek restaurant, it’s easy to walk up the lane into the old town of Vienna. With a travel guide, you can stay the whole day. Mostly it’s not enough for exploring all the sights, churches and shops. You could rent a horse cab, which brings you around faster. I stay on my feet. So it’s easier to take photos of the hot spots and try to get different angles and perspectives.

2017-11-22  HAMPTONS WITH SKY

When I am in a new region, I always want to see the typical and famous sights, for which it is renown. For the Hamptons, these are the dunes and the sea. It wasn’t so easy to get access because many private properties paved the way. At the public beach entry, I could see the dunes. I prepared for shooting, and soon I had the first shots of the Hamptons in my camera.  🙂
