2019-11-19  I LOVE THE RECORD PLAYER

The public space provides record players with sound mixer at the Museums Quarter in Vienna. I was immediately thinking of my old Dual record player, where I took out the vinyl disks from the record sleeve and listened to the music. When the vinyl disks were new, they had a specific smell. Often I looked at the album covers, read the back page during the music was playing. All gone with the time of Spotify and Apple music. Therefore I was so excited and took an LP from the category “Hip Hop Classic.” By accident, I caught the Beastie Boys. The sound was gorgeous; also, my wife Karin enjoyed the music.

2019-11-18 ASIAN TOURIST IN EDINBURGH

Google Maps is one of the most valuable tools for travel. Since the EU skipped all roaming tariffs, it’s a joy to search after the directions and follow Google for the way. How do Asian tourists use Google? I think they have to pay the roaming fees. So they have to pay a Sim card or search after WIFI hotspots at Starbucks and so on. But they can’t live without the smartphone, for sure.

2019-11-17 VILLAGE NEAR NICE

This village was near Nice; I can’t remember the name. But it perfectly represents the French Riveria, the old alleys with restaurants and bars on one side, and the sea on the other side. Sitting outside and smell the sea breeze on a warm autumn evening.

2019-11-16 THE GREAT BOKEH

I think the Leica Vario Elmar 35-70mm is one of the best lenses I ever owned. Even with F4, which is fully open, it produces impressing bokeh. The color rendition is perfect. It is so good on the Sony A7S that I preferred it over the Leica M240 on my last photo tour. The real reason is that focusing is a bit easier. Since it is a Leica R lens, you have to use it with an adapter on the Leica M and the Leica electronic viewfinder. And you can get this lens under € 400.

2019-11-15 CHICAGO BUILDINGS

From the Chicago River, you get one of the best sightseeing tours in Chicago. When entering the excursion boat, try to choose a place where no elbows and heads hinder you with photo shooting. Soon you will experience skylines on both sides of the river. Be sure to have spare batteries with you for the many motifs you will experience.

2019-11-14 THE SHOPS IN HONG KONG

I don’t know what they offer in their shops. I think it’s spices, special foods, vitamins and maybe sexual enhancers. However, I like the shop system and for me always worth a good photo.

2019-11-13 ALL THE TRAFFIC IN STOCKHOLM

I never got such a snapshot where all the traffic of a city is in one photo. Bus, public bus, tram, motorcycle, and the nose of a car, all that happened in Stockholm, shot from a Red Line Bus. These buses are often way better than walking. You are on a higher viewpoint and, therefore, get a more spectacular angle of view on the picture.

2019-11-12 SUNDAY EVENING

On Sunday, I tried a new camera/lens combination. I took my Sony A7S, the Gobe e-Mount to Leica R adapter, and the Leica Vario-Elmar R 35-70 F4 lens. It’s essential to get the right manual focus with the focus peaking function. When the focus is on, it’s getting a very nice combination for all lighting conditions. As thanks for my wife, I went to a Sunday afternoon tea. We chose a hotel on the Ringstraße in Vienna.

2019-11-11 THE CUBE IN AMSTERDAM

After I finished my photo tour in the Van Gogh Museum, I saw that cube only a few meters away. Reflections are usually a signal for photographers, be they lakes, puddles, or rivers. Also, in this case, I used the cube for the mirroring photo-technically.

2019-11-10 POPPIES IN BLOOM

My wife Karin and I were in the “Poppy-Village” Armschlag in the Waldviertel. You get noodles, marmalade, jam, chocolate – everything mixed with poppy seeds. The poppy trail shows dozens of different poppy varieties, and it was luck; all were blooming in full splendor.
