2020-09-30 DRIVEWAY TO THE DACHSTEIN

When it comes to cable cars, I always think of the technical masterpiece of how it is possible to conquer the steep mountain slopes with a steel cable and carrying stands. The rides often offer spectacular views and unique opportunities to take photos.

2020-09-28 VIENNA STADTBAHNBÖGEN

The Stadtbahn (city train) has been replaced by the Metro U6 about 40 years ago. What remained are the Stadtbahnbögen (city train arcades), which now converts to many miles of bicycle shops, fitness centers, bars, and pubs.

2020-09-26 HAMBURG IN THE EVENING

My favorite activity in Hamburg, walking through the Speicherstadt. The brick buildings are so pleasant to watch, combined with the sinking sun and the lights on the street.

2020-09-24 BUDAPEST MUSEUM TOUR II

My wife Karin and I passed the Széchenyi Chain Bridge, where we were on the Buda-side. Then we came to the Hungarian National Museum. Inside we did a walkabout in the lobby and entry area where I could shoot this photo.

2020-09-23 BUDAPEST MUSEUM TOUR

First, I thought we were entering the Opera, but then it turned out to be a museum. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name. The impressive entrance area convinced us to pay a visit to the building. On the top floor, we could also enjoy a view of Budapest.

2020-09-22 ROUGH SEA IN SYLT

The concrete barriers create the necessary resistance against the stormy North Sea. This scene results in an excellent photo motif. The northern lights, the surf, and the fine beach are a perfect symbiosis on Sylt’s island.

2020-09-21 FRESH HERBS FOR THE HOTEL GUESTS

The Schatzalp Hotel in Davos has a special goodie for its guests. Fresh herbs from the in-house herb gardens. They have about a dozen herb gardens with hundreds of herbs; cleary signed and separated. This structure makes it easier for the kitchen assistant to find their way around. For the photo, I used the combination of the new Sony A7R IV with the older Leica Elmar 35-70 F4 R lens.

2020-09-19 ENTRY TO GENOVA

The photo shows the entry street to Genova. From the parking garage, we went up with the escalator and started to explore the city. And from this point, we could not see any cars; the streets were to narrow. Which is a good thing in the Italien city; I like the motor scooters more.

2020-09-17  DARK CLOUDS OVER THE MOUNTAINS

Sometimes you get more spectacular clouds than the mountains itself. The weather didn’t turn out as bad, as the clouds would have forecasted. But I didn’t know before, so I took the cable car back to the valley instead of walking.

2020-09-15  THE ICE CREAM PARLOR ATTRACTS EVEN IN THE NIGHT

Even at night, you can’t get ice cream without standing in line. The fixed points in the Italian cities are the ice cream parlors. They ensure a pleasant get-together and sweeten the last hours of the day.
