2018-03-08   STREET WITH VIADUCT IN VERONA

The many details you can find in Italian streets, you walk around, and suddenly there is a viaduct between two houses. You are on an ongoing cultural trip, to stay fit and keep on going, a double espresso helps. Mostly the Italians make it perfect, short, with the right amount of coffee foam and excellent taste. 🙂

2018-02-28   VERONA FROM ABOVE

Once we took a tour up to the hills in Verona, where we entered an area which looked like a sight seeing platform. But it was some kind of recreational territory from the Italian Army. It was no problem for anyone that we walked around and did some shots from the city. Last but not least, there was even an observation deck with a great view.

2018-02-25   VILLA NEAR LAKE GARDA

My wife and I were driving about 40 minutes with a motor scooter from Verona to Lake Garda. Some streets were narrow when a bigger truck overtook us 😮 ; we felt the gust, and the motorcycles were under a light fluctuation. However, we arrived safely and could walk around in the villages surrounding the lake. We saw some beautiful Italian villas, from which I was eager to take some photos.

2018-01-17   PORTO VENERE

Cinque Terre with Porto Venere, one of the thousand great compositions and photos you can get there. I was already leaving Cinque Terre as I saw a parking lot on the curvy street with space for only one car. I took the risky parking maneuver and soon was at a steep slope with 100 yards down to the sea. I was leaning forward to align the composition to get the last photo of that trip.  🙂

2018-01-15   PATIO IN VERONA

Some buildings and patios in Verona remind me of the video game ‘Assassin’s Creed.’ When looking on the veneers, I imagine Desmond Miles climbing up the walls, jumping and hiding from enemies. This city must have been the template for parts of the series. A balancing act between fiction and reality.

2018-01-12   RIVER ADIGE IN VERONA

The photo of the Adige shooted from the Castelvecchio Bridge. The segmental arch bridge is entirely brick-built. I saw that bridge by accident, was driving with a rented motor-scooter. I wanted to fell real Italian. At a bus station where I had to wait I looked at the left and saw the accompanying buildings and the bridge after that. There were mostly Asian tourists, but not too crowded. So I had time for some photos.  🙂

2017-12-13   VERONA CENTRAL PLAZA

As my wife suddenly disappeared (I think she got lost in a shoe store):-), I had time for shooting photos. I took my Sony A7R II waist-deep to get a new composition. The flip screen helped a lot. I could look from above down to the camera and could experiment with different angles. Especially the people even don’t check, that you are shooting photos. It’s the most unobtrusive photographing position I know.

2017-12-10  NARROW ALLEY IN MONTEROSSO

Monterosso is one of the five villages of Cinque Terre. The Cinque Terre walk from Corniglia to Monterosso lasts about 2 hours on stony and dusty sidewalks with great views of the sea. After arrival in Monterosso, we looked for a cold Aqua Minerale with lemon. Although I was very thirsty, I couldn’t resist taking photos of the Italian alleys and streets.  🙂

2017-11-27  CASTLE MIRAMARE NEAR TRIESTE

This castle is only a few miles away from Trieste. You can plan a half day for the visit. Exploring the garden area, the exhibition in the castle and the great sea view from the balconies and viewing plateaus. Shooting photos, drinking coffee and have a good time between Mediterranean flora and fauna.

2017-11-17  BURANO IN THE NIGHT

Who in Burano did have the idea to paint all the houses in different colors? Maybe a few residents started, then others attended. Or it was a decree from the local council? However, this little town is a photographer’s dream. I had only two hours for exploring. I did my best and shot a series of photos. Swiftly I walked through most parts of the city. My wife was with me all the time. I took photos and she looked at the streets, houses and churches.  🙂
