2018-06-06   COMO DOME EVENING HOURS

In Como there are is a restaurant where you have a great look at the dome, and can shoot photos while waiting for a pizza and drinking an Aperol Sprizz. Be sure to get a seat in the first row. 🙂 One of the photos where I did postprocessing with the mobile app Snapseed.

2018-05-28   MAIN SQUARE IN VERONA

The classical Italian style of the cities, the main square with statues and cobbled ground, surrounded by cafes and shoe boutiques. A unique architecture which can only be found in Italy. Mostly one glimpse is enough and you know you this is an Italian city.

2018-05-18   TREES ON CINQUE TERRE WALK

t was a 4-hour walk at about 40° C in the plump midday sun from Corniglia to Monterosso. Uphill on stone steps, down on sandy and dusty ways, through trees and plants and great views to the mediterranean sea. After two-thirds of the ways we saw an old man, who was selling fresh orange juice and water, there was already a queue, waiting for the drinks. With the photo shooting, I had to be careful, because of my sweaty hands and the dust in the air.

2018-04-21   SUNSET IN BURANO

You have to take a boat to arrive Burano. My wife Karin and I took a three-island-tour from Venice where we came to Burano at later afternoon. We had one hour to explore the city and take photos. Since the village isn’t that large, I finished a photo-marathon where I had seen every little street and canal with these neat, colorful houses and could do a sunset shot from the church with the crooked tower.

2018-03-30   MARKET IN ROME

I arrived in Rome at 7:30 am, my appointment at the authority AAMS was not before 11 am. I visited a stand-up cafe bar where I took an espresso and ate an Italian vanilla croissant, which had that typical harmonic taste. The rest of my spare time, I used to wander through an Italian market, where you got all, from vegetables to bags, from books to clothing. After some rounds, I was ready to attend my business meeting, doped up from all the coffee.

2018-03-26   CORNIGLIA IN THE NIGHT

Corniglia is the highest of the five cities in Cinque Terre. You have to walk up about 500 steps from the railway station or take the shuttle bus, which has the last fare at about 9 pm. However, you have your daily fitness program in Cinque Terre, which is a good thing after the excellent Italian food. The walkway down to the sea is similar, many steps, but then you get the reward of a crystal clear sea water. I shot this high ISO hand-held shot at the only road to Corniglia from the hinterland of the Cinque Terre mountains. With the Sony A7S, you can handle ISO 16,000 accordingly.

2018-03-08   STREET WITH VIADUCT IN VERONA

The many details you can find in Italian streets, you walk around, and suddenly there is a viaduct between two houses. You are on an ongoing cultural trip, to stay fit and keep on going, a double espresso helps. Mostly the Italians make it perfect, short, with the right amount of coffee foam and excellent taste. 🙂

2018-02-28   VERONA FROM ABOVE

Once we took a tour up to the hills in Verona, where we entered an area which looked like a sight seeing platform. But it was some kind of recreational territory from the Italian Army. It was no problem for anyone that we walked around and did some shots from the city. Last but not least, there was even an observation deck with a great view.

2018-02-25   VILLA NEAR LAKE GARDA

My wife and I were driving about 40 minutes with a motor scooter from Verona to Lake Garda. Some streets were narrow when a bigger truck overtook us 😮 ; we felt the gust, and the motorcycles were under a light fluctuation. However, we arrived safely and could walk around in the villages surrounding the lake. We saw some beautiful Italian villas, from which I was eager to take some photos.

2018-01-17   PORTO VENERE

Cinque Terre with Porto Venere, one of the thousand great compositions and photos you can get there. I was already leaving Cinque Terre as I saw a parking lot on the curvy street with space for only one car. I took the risky parking maneuver and soon was at a steep slope with 100 yards down to the sea. I was leaning forward to align the composition to get the last photo of that trip.  🙂
