2016-07-01 EASTERN VIENNA FROM LEOPOLDSBERG
From Leopoldsberg (425 m) you get a view over the whole city of Vienna. I prefer night shots where I can catch the glimmering lights of the city. Often such a photo session lasts about 3-4 hours, where I test most of my lenses and cameras. It’s always interesting if you compare the results and think about the settings you have made to get the specific looks.

2016-06-14 NIGHTLY STREET IN VIENNA
I like streets, streetlights and, if it’s possible, a tower in the background, and all of this in the night, and here I have it. Three kinds of streets, one for cars, one for bikes and the third one for pedestrians. Some meters on the right side, there is a subway. So all important transportation lines of a city very near.

2016-05-27 THE BALLROOM BLITZ
Since I am not that great dancer I rely more on photography in the ballroom 🙂 . This event was for the high school diploma year of my daughter. With no tripod allowed, I took the Sony A7S and Sigma 35 1.4 to shoot handheld.

2016-05-24 JUMPING HORSE
At the Vienna Masters horse tournament I could use my Sony Alpha 6000 with burst mode. This was really exciting how good it worked and I had a huge amount of very sharp photos. Especially if you think about the price tag of this camera. It was interesting that the daughter of Bruce Springsteen participated and was the winner of a contest.
- Camera: ILCE-6000
- Aperture: ƒ/4.5
- Shutter speed: 1/1000s
- Focal length: 70mm

2016-05-06 WALKING WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM THE APPLE WATCH
Nordic walking near trees and in the nature is a pleasure. Because I live in a city I like some “green” around for my walking tours. I go to nearby hills like Kahlenberg or Türkenschanzpark.
APPLE WATCH FOR WALKING
For these tours, lasting about an hour, I have my Apple Watch on my wrist with the “Outdoor Walking” program turned on, for tracking of my calories, the walking distance, the heart rate and the time elapsed. This is a really helpful tool, I can also save the tour to my IPhone to get a history and comparisons.

- Focal length: 5.1mm

2016-04-28 BRIDGES OF VIENNA
The Danube divides Vienna in two parts. Here are the bridges for crossing this river, they can be used by cars, metros, trains, bikes and pedestrians … But this city would need more bridges to handle all the traffic, a new one is planned in a region called Lobau.

- Aperture: ƒ/8
- Focal length: 250mm
- ISO: 50
2016-04-24 WALKING BETWEEN TREES
Nordic walking is one of my Sunday hobbies. Most of the time, my wife is with me and my Leica D-Lux 5 to take photos. Sometimes we go to nearby hills, like the Kahlenberg in Vienna, where we can breath fresh air and look at the wonderful trees.

2016-04-23 GRAND HYATT WIEN
