The large lake between Austria and Hungary is called Lake Neusiedl. It’s only 1.5-2 meters deep with a very muddy bottom. You often sink up to your knees in the mud. Reeds grow on the banks, the lake is called a steppe lake. Often one has the impression of standing in front of a sea, the horizon is so vast.

To avoid the long queue of people, we were very early at the valley station of the Dachstein glacier. Once at the top, we were rewarded with sunshine between the dark clouds. A short time later, the sun outshone the clouds and began to illuminate the glacier.

We visited the garden exhibition at Eckartsau Palace with my brother Christian. At 33 degrees Celsius, it was a hot summer day. It would help if you took pictures with high shutter speeds at intense sunshine; I left that to the Leica M8, with the shutter wheel in the “A” position. The camera selected 1/1000 for the photo.
