2020-12-10  MAIN SQUARE IN BOLZANO

In Bolzano, the main square was empty pretty quickly in the evening, unlike many other Italian cities. In South Tyrol, the temperatures are a little lower, and the Italian temperament does not have the southern flair there.

2020-12-08  TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO

Although I like to take on sporting challenges, I was happy that I could drive to the summit of the “Tre cime di Lavaredo” in Southern Tyrol. The pouring rain was a plausible excuse. Once at the top, the rain turned into a drizzle, and we could take the rock path. After half a kilometer, the splendor of the rocks was revealed.

2020-12-08 IN THE HEART OF VIENNA

A photo from the streets of Vienna in December. Christmas decorations and markets will be rare this year. You have to look harder for photo motives, but in time they come.

2020-12-07 SUN AND CLOUDS

Sunday afternoon walks that end like this is fun. You can enjoy beautiful photos without having to put up with the long waiting times of landscape photography. Above all, such a combination of clouds and winter sun can rarely be planned.

2020-12-06 FAIRGROUND IN ITALY

Some things never change in Italy. The fairgrounds with carousel and autodrome are among the evening attractions. When I was a child and visited Italy with my parents, it is like that now—seen this year in Savona.

2020-12-05 YEAST DUMPLINGS AND STEAMED NOODLES

I recommend starting the walk on the harbor promenade with a curry sausage. For dessert, visit a candy stand where you get yeast dumplings with poppy seeds and plum jam or steamed noodles with jam and butter. Those are some of the many attractions on the harbor in St. Pauli, Hamburg.

2020-12-05 HUNTING LODGE AT SUNSET

On Sunday afternoons, we like to go on a trip to the Klosterneuburg hills. We then hike with friends for 2-3 hours on dirt roads and meadows. The perfect finish is when the sky with sunset throws such lights as you can see in the photo.

2020-12-03 THE RED CARPET

That could be the beginning of a Stanley Kubrick film. Static figures in suits are waiting at the entrance to receive the secret guests. The mysteries inside the building are still unknown.

2020-12-01 LEICA M8 IN GERMANY

I had my Leica M8 with me in Hamburg. Despite a full photo backpack, taking photos with the Leica was the most fun. The M8 is often underestimated because of its age, low megapixel number, and only low ISO values. But the photos are top-notch, and it’s always a pleasure to pick up this camera.

2020-12-01 CITY LIFE

It is often my idea to take pictures of the hustle and bustle in Vienna’s streets at the weekend. I try to think about new perspectives and colors. A Leica M240 helps; it represents the world in an artistic expression.
