2019-10-10 MY DAUGHTER IN A CASTLE

On Sunday we were invited to a classical concert in Eckartsau Castle. My mother-in-law is a singer in a choir, and her conductor organized the event. I took the opportunity to shoot several photos of my daughter in the corridors of the castle. And again, an excellent opportunity to use my Leica M240.

2019-10-09 SUDDENLY THE VERONA ARENA WAS HERE

The road through the old town of Verona, which we had taken, suddenly ended in front of the magnificent Arena of Verona. The forecourt is a park lined with Italian bars and restaurants. Visit in the evening; then, you can see the arena and the park with impressive lighting.

2019-10-08 THE SEA LION ON THE BUOY

I was wondering how it was possible for the sea lion, to climb that metal buoy. Ball bottom and extremely slippery, he must clasp the buoy with his power of the fins and pull up step by step. Anyway, it was a funny sight at the harbor of San Diego.

2019-10-07 THE LAST CHAT BEFORE THE DEPARTURE

The conductor is often a one-man-show for all activities that occur during a train journey. From the signpost to the guide, from the drinks seller to the signalman, at least always good to have a conductor on the train. Here at a train station in Huntsville, Canada.

2019-10-06 THE DENSE FORESTS OF CANADA

I was not far enough in the country to see the rough wilderness, mountains, and wildlife in Canada. However, I visited the Algonquin National Park, which is relatively flat, with many lakes and dense forests. For a one day tour, I can recommend renting a canoe and paddle along the vast lakes, surrounded by trees. From Toronto, it’s a 300-kilometer drive. On the way there you will see fewer buildings, more wooden houses, and more countryside inns and restaurants when you approach the park.

2019-10-05 ANOTHER VIEW OF VENICE

I first marched the Rive degli Schiavoni westward, then took a side lane north. Then I found myself in another Venice; among other things, I could see long avenues lined with trees. In the end, I came back to the sea and could look at the Lido of Venice.

2019-10-04 GLASS FACADE MIRRORS IN CHICAGO

Chicago is the city where the aunt of my wife Karin lived. The family relocated to Baton Rouge and Cleveland then. Karin and I took the boat tour on the Chicago River, where I positioned myself to catch the best photos of the skyline. Don’t forget to set the high shutter speed, crucial when driving on a shaky boat. The tour guide was very entertaining, a joy to look at him when telling his stories. A tour to recommend, enjoyable, and great for shooting pictures.

2019-10-03 VENICE WITH ITS NARROW STREETS

Venice offers a new surprise to every corner. We were on Google Maps and let us show the way back to the hotel. Often we got into narrow streets, with bars, hotels and old, morbid masonry — a city built for eternity. For the shooting I used my Sony A7S where I used ISO 10,000. No problem at all for this high-ISO wunder-camera.

2019-10-02 THE WHITE DUCKS

It was some years ago that I visited with my wife Karin an art exhibition in Milan. One of my photos was about the white ducks and the farm animals. With art, the opinions often differ sharply, but this beautiful herd won the hearts of all spectators.

2019-10-01 SHOP IN HONG KONG

Buying some street food, drinking coconut-water, taking home some dried mushrooms, the little shops in Hong Kong provide all kinds of delights. I was walking miles over miles per day, only to shoot photos of the streets of Hong Kong.
